Do you remember that Kibbles and Bits commercial where the little fox terrior is jumping over bulldog as they are walking down the street? The fox terrior is just bounding back and forth over the bulldog, back and forth...but the bulldog just keeps walking like he hardly notices the fox terrior. Gosh, the fox terrior even steps on the bulldog's back a couple of times as it bounds over...

nuthin' yet... got three deer in the freezer... well, we've eaten most of one already... but it'll be rough gettin' another deer tuh fit...
Did you hear what we had for Christmas meal? Andrew gave us a venison back strap and Steve cut it up like filet mignon, wrapped it in bacon and grilled it. mmmmm!!! It was great!
You'll just hafta eat more deer.
I take it there's no danger that there won't be venison at Shootmoot?
I plan on savin' a backstrap or two fer ShootMoot... but it won't go very far...
No...we had one whole backstrap and it went pretty fast. Matthew loves it. Steve made a kind of Au Jus to go with it.

We all make choices in life that we later find out don't work for us. That's what's nice about free will; we can USE IT!! If you find things aren't working for you, you're not stuck with it. You can start to work things out in your life that make it possible for you to change jobs, move somewhere else, whatever! You may feel you have a commitment to your family to stay nearby, but you shouldn't. You can visit them, or they can visit you, wherever you happen to be! Think about it, if you were to marry someone and he wanted to move away, you'd do it for the two of you; why not do it for yourself?
Even with all the things we're planning to do here on the house, if SSQ decided that he wanted to move South, I'd be outta here in a NY minute! We could just fill in the hole that's in the backyard, put the house on the market 'as is', and we'd still come out way ahead! I've always tried to be flexible because I know that since he's the bread-winner, he's gotta be content with where we are. If he's not, then we need to be able to go somewhere else. He felt keenly the desire to stay put when the kids were little; he was sensitive to their needing to stay near their friends. But with Clare and Joseph getting close to going away to college, frankly it doesn't matter where we are, they're gonna come home, no matter where home is!
Well, free advice is worth what you pay for it. ;o)

I slept good last night.
I received a Hobbit Hole knife this week. The few times I have used it, I was really amazed at the sharpness of the blade. I had no problem cutting plastic crating straps or nylon rope.
I like the blade design, and may use it for grafting and budding trees, as I have knives for general cutting. The straight edge, rather than a curved or pointed blade end, should be excellent for budding. The season for grafting is coming up starting next month. Budding normally works better in May & June. I'll give you an update later.
