Is Detroit a Conservative or Liberal city?
I know the city always votes Liberal but so dose every major USA city. I'm talkin about the 3 County Metro area (Macomb, Oakland, Wayne)
I am planning on moving to Chesterfield in April. Chesterfield is a Detroit suburb (Macomb Co.)
As long as I'm askin ?s about Detroit, I heard from a teacher I had at St.Paul Lutheran School the Detroit News was Conservative bias. Is that true?
Thanks again, Freepers, 4 your help in this time of change in my life!!!
The link on his profile doesn't work either.
I read the Detroit news online everyday
I am planning on moving to Chesterfield but havn't yet. I've allready updated my profile
I belonged to Good Shepherd 1986 - 2000 so I will be rejoining the church in April (when I move)
I was lookin 4 the PERFECT city 4 me ALL OVER the USA (the USA is the greatest country in the world) THATS the reason I posted so many posts!!!
Thanks again 4 all your help!!!
There are pockets of conservative areas in the Detroit Metro Area. Those would include the Grosse Pointes, Livingston County, Northern Macomb, North and Western Oakland County. If you go south of Detroit Grosse Ile is also conservative.
Chesterfield Twp is a mishmash of union and yuppies. You have the lake, which is great, a Super-Walmart, access to pretty much everything. I wouldn't classify it as conservative or liberal, but a rapidly changing community.
I LOVE snow!!!
That was 1 of the reasons I chose Michigan
I also love cars. Again a victory 4 Michigan
Michgian's known 4 lots of Lutherans. I'm LUtheran
My car only has AM radio so I wanted a town with AM radio. detroit's 1 of only 9 cities in Michgian with music on AM
I enjoy watchin the mornin news with my mornin coffee Detrtoit's the only city in Michgian large enough to offer a mornin newscast on FOX (I get all my news from FOX)

I updated my profile early.
I only did it cuase I'm excited about movin.
Michigan has a lot of good points...
1. They're speed limits are fast, but not too fast.
2. Michigan allows concealed weapons
3. Michgian is known 4 lots of Lutheans
4. Michigan is known 4 cars
5. Michigan gets lots snow
6. I like livin by the water
7. Michgian has the best church: Good Shepherd Chesterfield (I belonged to Good Shepherd 1986 - 1999)
I suspect this is because the Freep and the News share news staffs but not editorial staffs. They are owned by the same company.
Good luck in your search. I hope that your search is limited to north of the Mason/Dixon line. We've got enough yankees down here, thank you very much.
My search is all over the USA
By the way I HATE the New York Yankees
Don't worrry I'm goin NORTH. I LOVE snow!!!

I agree I would never commute to Detroit. I was suggesting a job in Washtenaw or Ingam counties. The pay would not be as high as in Detroit but living in a cheaper county would help offset the loss of wages.
You couldn't pay me to go anywhere near Detroitistan. I'm a country boy and southeastern Jackson county is where I'll stay.
Have you thought about Canada, aay?
When I lived in Detroit I was a child (except the last 2 days) so I didn't know what it was really like to live in Detroit.

Canada's WAY 2 Liberal 4 me!!!
Detroit itself is very liberal as well as the most democrat city in the country over 100,000 people. Kerry and Gore got 94% there once you include the dead vote.
I know the city always votes Liberal but so dose every major USA city. I'm talkin about the 3 County Metro area (Macomb, Oakland, Wayne)
North Macomb is conservative. South Macomb and Mt Clemens are liberal. It's more of a populist liberal than social liberal. Macomb overall is a swing county, lately treading slightly republican. (Went for Gore, Posthumus, and Bush) Oakland is split regionally. West Oakland and North Oakland are solid republican, SE Oakland(14 mile South, East of Inkster) is extremely liberal and democrat. Oakland's tilting more and more dem and went for Gore, Granholm, and Kerry. Wayne County is the most democrat county in the state. Outside of Detroit it's about 54% dem. I am planning on moving to Chesterfield in April. Chesterfield is a Detroit suburb (Macomb Co.)
Chesterfield leans Republican at least for statewide elections. It went for Bush twice as well as Posthumus.

That used to be the case, but it's now as liberal as the Free Press and has been since Thomas Bray was no longer the editorial writer.
