right. when I told people that in the previous thread about clive owen being up for the new bond, you would have thought I insulted the pope. Bringing out the fact that it was an american (and in addition, that fleming's estate has stated that he can only be played by a british actor), they didnt like that.

He's gettin' a little long in tooth to play 007 ~ hell, he's two months older than I am. :):)

Sean was the best, though.

I was on a thread last week where Clive got a lot of positive comments. I just saw him in Sin City and the Croupier. He could be very good. I wish he would have consulted with me before he turned it down. LOL!.

YIKES! There is nothing attractive about him AT ALL. What happened to Hugh Jackman?

I don't know about Jackman.
IMHO, no one can fill Connery's shoes.

Gorgeous, positively gorgeous.

This guy was in the running a couple of times but was rejected as looking too much like Sean Connery. Pierce Brosnan got the part that time.

The new Bond looks very metrosexual. Have no idea if he is....but perhaps that was the appeal (uh-peel?).

In the late 80s and early 90s I used to watch the Highlander TV series. I always thought Paul would be a great bond.

AP would have been great. I think partly because he resembled Connery. And being born in London, he had the accent too. He was a good actor that got little recognition. It's a shame.

You'd think for $25 mill per an actor would want to do three of these and then do whatever he wants for the rest of his life.

From today's The Hindu

Entertainment

Craig says he's not going to be next James Bond London, April 6 (PTI): British actor Daniel Craig has said he was not going to be the next James Bond, following a flurry of stories today claiming he had won the part.

A spokeswoman for the star of the hit gangster movie 'Layer Cake' denied the reports but wouldn't comment further. Eon Productions, which makes the Bond movies, also refused to comment.

This means that fellow British actor Clive Owen may still be in the running to take over from Pierce Brosnan. Other names mentioned to play the 007 role have included Eric Bana, Jude Law, Heath Ledger, Ewan McGregor, Dougray Scott and Australian Hugh Jackman.

The next James Bond movie, Casino Royale, is being directed by Martin Campbell, who first took the helm on Goldeneye in 1995.

The Sun today claimed that Craig had been offered a three-film deal by producer Barbara Broccoli.
