I'm not being glib. I really don't understand why people feel the need to "punish" other people.
The tax doesn't collect much revenue, therefore punishing a parents sacrifices is the only true purpose.
How much money do plan to pass on to your kids - $10 million, $100 million, $1 Billion?
Those are the people who are hit by the estate tax.
Tax those who can most afford it. And who can afford it the most? People inheriting $10 million to $50 billion dollars. There are rich at birth and have done nothing to deserve it except choose the right parents.
Why should someone like me - who works for a living - have to pay more taxes or get reduced govt services - so Paris Hilton & George Soros, Jnr. can live like millionaires and never work?
