UNION BEACH (AP) An off-duty police officer out for a jog fought off a sexual assault from a naked man who jumped out of the woods wearing only a condom, police said.

John Dee Kelly, 39, of Jersey City, surrendered to Union Beach police Thursday, eight days after authorities issued a warrant for his arrest on charges of attempted sexual assault and lewdness. Authorities said he works as a vice president for a New York banking corporation.

Mind you, I am not a PC totin' ACLU lovin' liberal demoncat weasel....I just don't want conservatism associated with cold-hearted, un-compassionate, brainless attitiudes like you just promulgated with your post. Conservatives are the thinking species (contrary to what NPR says), and I expect that you will join us with your next post.

I'm sorry that I offended you.

I also thought they were parking ticket folks - but it said POLICE not PARKING AUTHORITY on their uniforms.

BTW... I think JimRob is awesome and running this site is a great responsibility and of great value.

I am not the one offended...just want to make sure that we are all thinking when we post....I have made some comments in posting that wrongly characterize people or situations too....

Yes these guys/gals are police officers, with the full powers, and there are fleet-footed backups very close by at all times. I think that it is great for these guys to be there keeping an eye on things, since your perception is probably common - that they could be easily challenged. This may work to the advantage of the police dept there to catch more of the bad guys - a more productive activity than frisking 70 year old swedish grandmothers at the airport.

Apology accepted. And I am sorry I was so rude in my post (got up early to watch a successful shuttle launch - need more coffee). Hope to see you at the Sacto DOJ on Thursday to show Baghdad Bill Lockyer what we think of our tax$$ going for pictures of US Flags in toilets. - Later

Your apology accepted as well. I was actually shocked by your post today. That thread was over a month ago and I had totally forgotten about it.

I was also up early watching the launch - but I switched to decaf years ago.

I heard about the Bagdhad Bob Thing on the Radio this week. What a dolt. I won't be able to make it - but I have been passing the word around.

Let's keep up the good fight.
