Never Mind.......He did suck as Donnie Brasco, and the book was 100 x's better than the movie.

No, I do not. But I am 47 years old and have seen hundreds of movies in my life. I know what I like and I also know certain directors and such. Case in point - just about any movie with Kris Kristofferson sucks. That has been my general opinion of his acting ability so I generally do not see anything that he is in. Sometimes I make exceptions - I saw Mel Gibson's Payback and he was okay in that but still wooden. So some are like that. However, if I find out about a particular individuals religious and moral views, and it does not agree with mine, I do not see the movie or buy the music. Simple as that. And I do not feel I have been deprived of anything because I missed it.

The point is that you are an American and that Depp thinks you are a dumb puppy.

But you're a star-struck little fool with no pride, so take the pain, little girl. Your hero doesn't like you.

He's no hero of mine, although he is a good actor. I don't hero worship. Whether or not he's thinks I'm dumb doesn't bother me. He's entitled to his opinion, even if it's wrong.

Many times I think a lot of Americans are really dumb. Sometimes it just shocks me things people in this country do. So I guess that would make my anti-American?

Oh, and if you read the article in which he made the comments you'd realize that he was referring to the government, not the people.

But, he way to sink right down into the childish name calling. How old are you? 12?

Wow, I see we're riding the hyperbole train today. I would hazard a guess that Depp has no feelings about the person you are posting to one way or another. I would further guess that the person you are posting to is neither "star-struck" nor lacking in pride. Depp is an actor. He's made some pretty good flicks. What he has to say about things outside of his dayjob is pretty much irrelevant.

You wouldn't be so charitable to Depp if he came to your house and set a paper bag filled with dog crap on fire on your front steps, would you?

I bet you wouldn't defend this millionaire actor if he egged your new car, then soaped up the windows.

What if he snuck into your yard at night and painted your dog orange?

You wouldn't think he was so great then, would you?

Quit asking questions. You apparently are smarter than everyone here and should know everything.

If you can't figure out my age, I guess you are what you yourself would call just another dumb American. :-)

I'm supposing that you do not make a living as a Free Republic commentator, so we can apply what you just said to everything you say here: It's irrelevant. :-)

I love Gene in "The Producers" and "The Frisco Kid," and "Young Frankenstein" of course.

The guy is simply hot.

Ever seen "Start The Revolution Without Me"?
Even as the foppish Phillipe, he was all man.

[I had *such* a thing for him when I was a teenager]...;))

I am a big fan of Wilder's as well. One of my favorite movies of his is Frisco Kid with Harrison Ford...from 'back in the day' (late seventies)....about a Polish rabbi being sent to the Jewish community in San Francisco in the 1800s.

What bugged me the MOST as to what Depp said was THIS:

""My daughter is four, my boy is one. I'd like them to see America as a toy, a broken toy. Investigate it a little, check it out, get this feeling and then get out," said the star of the off-beat films "Edward Scissorhands" and "Dead Man."

If that's the way he feels about this country, then he and the movies he makes don't deserve my support - financially or otherwise.

What was pretty obvious at the time of this Stern interview was that Depp backed WAY off of his anti-American comments only after he was apparently warned (probably by his agent) that the movie would be hurt at the box office.

Sure, if that's how you feel. But it hardly appears to be the same situation. This is a discussion board, specifically for the purpose of, well, discussion.

My point is that Depp is an actor. My "contact" with him is limited to watching him in movies. I don't pay attention to what he (or any other entertainment figure) says about anything not involving entertainment. Consequently, I don't understand why people get all riled up about it.

Never saw the first two. Thought Semi-Tough sucked. One of Burt's worst pictures.

Also see - Convoy

Heaven's Gate

Big Top Pee Wee

Besides, why does it bother you what I see or why I see it? If you think I am wrong, then just move along. Don't bother posting to me why you think I should change.

"I just want to make you kosher!"

I loved the scene where he thought he'd found refuge with some orthodox Jews in Pennsylvania...hats and beards...and it turned out they were Amish!

I just found Scarecrow on Netflix!

Not to mention his hysterical performance in 'Blazing Saddles' as "The Waco Kid".

He denied saying that, and declared his love for America.

I for one think he is a brilliant actor, and would never boycott his films.
