Well, I’ve just finished scouring the White House visitor logs. Regular readers know I seem to be one of the few in the media who actually does such a thing. Regular readers also know that I’ve pointed out time and again that the logs are incomplete, misleading, obtuse, and designed to make it as difficult as possible to figure out who has visited and when. So, it is no surprise that neither director Tim Burton nor actor Johnny Depp — hosts of the big 2009 Hollywood Halloween bash at the White House — show up in the visitor logs. At...

Tis the season to bash Jesus and Christians… (If your a Christian-hating leftist) Hollywood star Johnny Depp lent his voice to a new Christmas song that mocks Jesus Christ – right in time for the holidays. “Jesus Stag Night Club” is the first track off of UK band Babybird’s 2011 album, ‘The Pleasure of Self Destruction’. The song features a guest performance from Johnny Depp. The Christian Post reported: This time of year is usually filled with songs about baby Jesus and expressions of the great joy that emanates from the Christmas story. It seems no one told actor Johnny...

The Pirates of the Caribbean movies have taken an interesting course. The first movie sounded like another Disney attempt to cash in on old favorites from yesteryear...the Pirate ride being one of the most famous in their amusement park for decades. Of course, The Curse of the Black Pearl took in an astounding $350 million domestically, and $650 million worldwide, coming in only second to the third Lord of the Rings movie for movie receipts in 2003. That assured sequels...which were largely disappointing. The second and third movies suffered from being add-ons to the original, which never intended on making...

After more than 50 years, Ayn Rand’s seminal novel and ode to free market capitalism “Atlas Shrugged” is finally hitting the big screen this weekend, in the first of a planned trilogy of movies. Independently produced and distributed by entrepreneur John Aglialoro, chairman of UM Holdings Inc, the film “Atlas Shrugged, Part 1″ was budgeted under $10 million and includes a cast of little-known actors (newcomer Taylor Schilling stars as the powerful female industrialist Dagny Taggart). At one time, Algialoro, who optioned the book’s rights 18 years ago, had struck up a partnership with Lionsgate Films to make a version...

It appears that high-tech glitz and A-list celebrity glamor are not the keys to moviegoers’ hearts. Pre-release box office tracking for movies hitting theaters this holiday season has yielded some interesting results. Disney’s long-hyped cyber-reality actioner Tron:Legacy may end up a financial loser. The 3D sci-fi film has been marketed heavily for months en route to its Dec. 17 bow, and many have been suggesting a big opening and leggy theatrical run based on built-in interest from the cult base of its 1982 predecessor. But at this point, tracking suggests Tron: Legacy with as little as $35 million. In the...

OH to be a kid again. Hollywood Lord JOHNNY DEPP was a surprise guest at a London school's assembly this morning. The actor - who is currently filming the fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean movie in Greenwich - took some time out to make an impromptu trip to Meridian primary school dressed as his character Captain Jack Sparrow. His visit came after one of the school's pupils, Beatrice, wrote a letter to him saying: "Captain Jack Sparrow, at Meridian Primary School we are a bunch of budding young pirates and we were having a bit of trouble mutiny against the...

To steal a phrase from the Tenth Doctor... What? Sources are reporting that a big screen version of Doctor Who, written by former showrunner Russell T. Davies, is slated for release in 2012. Those same sources are also reporting that Johnny Depp has been confirmed in the iconic role of The Doctor.

At last, we have an Alice in Wonderland for these times: Gloria Steinem meets Joan of Arc — with a touch of Carrie Bradshaw. Tim Burton’s big-budget movie loses touch with a lot of the whimsy from Lewis Carroll’s Alice books in favor of lots of girl-power feminism. That doesn’t ruin the movie, but in a world that’s supposed to grow curioser and curioser, things quickly get conventional and conventionaler. Louis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland is one of the great children novels in children's literature. Its imaginary world, with numerous adult themed allegories, makes it an interesting read for both children and adults. In all honesty...I have not read the book since high school. And my kid is not old enough yet for this book. But the way I remember it, the story is really...a story without a real story line, without key relationships, and kind of a wandering maze of events. Very difficult to build a movie around. Of course, if there is any director that could pull it...

The word is that watching Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland is the closest you can come to falling down the rabbit hole yourself and into Lewis Carroll's fantasy world. Those who have seen the film, or clips of it, say that it is utterly breathtaking, a hallucinatory alternate universe completely realised in every detail, from the sun streaming in through the gills of the mushrooms to the light falling on the individual fuzzy hairs on the caterpillar's back.

46 year old Johnny Depp has been named The Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine for 2009. This marks the second time Mr. Depp has earned that honor, the first time was in 2003. This is rather unusal since he has mostly been under the radar in 2009, while other candidates such as Ryan Reynolds (The Proposal) and Robert Pattinson (Twilight) have made big waves. Johnny Depp however has stood the test of time. He's been a major, if not minor heart-throb since 1987 when he first appeared in 21 Jump Street. He reached true stardom with his silent portrayal...

London, July 02(ANI): Johnny Depp is keen on teaching his children to handle guns. The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star, who learnt shooting at the age of six in Kentucky where he grew up, wants to pass on his experience to his kids. "We would just go out and line up a bunch of cans and shoot with rifles, handguns and at times, submachine guns," the Daily Star quoted him as saying...

When Hollywood Attacks By Jesse Carey Interactive Media Producer Just when you thought the Da Vinci Code controversy was wearing off, several more high-profile Hollywood projects are reportedly in the works that will once again challenge some basic Christian precepts. Johnny Depp is said to be producing and starring in a big-screen adaption of the graphic novel Rex Mundi, which tells the story of “descendants of Jesus” searching for the Holy Grail. Like Dan Brown’s best-selling novel and the Da Vinici Code film, the basic plot point revolves around Jesus having children. According to Christianity Today, the movie is an...

International Talk Like a Pirate Day (ITLAPD) is a parodic holiday invented in 1995 by John Baur ("Ol' Chumbucket") and Mark Summers ("Cap'n Slappy"), of the United States, who proclaimed September 19 each year as the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate. For example, an observer of this holiday would greet friends not with "Hello", but with "Ahoy, me hearty!" The date was selected because it was the birthday of Summers's ex-wife and consequently would be easy for him to remember. At first an inside joke between two friends, the holiday gained exposure when Baur...

Johnny Depp 'Digs' Che by Humberto Fontova Posted: 06/04/2007 The cover of the current Rolling Stone magazine features mega movie star Johnny Depp hugging mega rock star Keith Richards. In the world's top-grossing movie of the moment these two "blood brothers," as Rolling Stone calls them, team up as father-son. Throughout the RS article, Depp, who moved to Hollywood as an amateur rock guitarist only to see his fortunes blossom elsewhere in the entertainment industry, gushes about the Rolling Stones, and Keith Richards in particular, as his " models, inspiration," etc. etc. Hanging from Depp's neck during the Rolling Stone...

PALMDALE - "Pirates" fans might want to keep a weather eye open for Johnny Depp and other stars of their favorite swashbuckling adventure flick. Filming of "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," the third installment of Disney's hit franchise, has relocated to Site 9 in Palmdale from Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, unit publicist Michael Singer confirmed Monday. Contrary to media reports that circulated over the weekend, Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards did not make a slightly tipsy cameo appearance as Capt. Jack Sparrow's father at the former aircraft production hangar at 30th Street East and Avenue P. Filming...

Imagine a 20th Century that still had religious inquisitions, a world where the medieval Catholic Church still controlled everything and everyone. Where people were still burned at the stake, no religious tolerance and a place where everyone feared for their lives. Welcome to the world of Rex Mundi. The first time that I heard about Rex Mundi was while working on the set of Tim Sullivans' Driftwood about a year ago. Famed Rock 'N' Roll KISS photographer turned movie producer Barry Levine mentioned that they were working with Johnny Depp on a film. Sworn to secrecy and under threats of...

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Amsterdam will get a theme park dedicated to chocolate and inspired by Roald Dahl's children's book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," city officials and entrepreneurs said Thursday. Just like Dahl's fictional "Chocolate Factory" owned by Willy Wonka, the main part of the "sweets park" will be located underground, in a disused railway tunnel which was handed over by the city of Amsterdam in a ceremony Thursday. The attraction, which is expected to open to the public in two to three years, will feature a glass elevator and a chocolate fountain, similar to the book. It will also...

Organizers of a memorial for Hunter S. Thompson plan to erect a 150-foot structure — courtesy of actor Johnny Depp — to shoot the gonzo journalist's ashes onto his ranch near here. Friends and acquaintances gathered Thursday to discuss the Aug. 20 invitation-only service, which will be six months after Thompson shot himself in his Woody Creek home. Jon Equis, the event producer working with Thompson's family, said the tower will be 12 feet wide at the base and 8 feet wide at the top, where a cannon will be placed. Depp, who portrayed the author in the movie version...

Once again it is awards season in Hollywood, where hardware is handed out and acceptance speeches filled with the ramblings of elites who forget to pay homage to those who truly are responsible for their immense wealth and success, the regular Joe’s and Jane’s who pay to see them on the big and little screens. Oft times these award events are used as pulpits for the political rants and diatribes against our current administration, policies, and Americans who are supportive of them. In honor of this award giving season I will now announce my first annual “Foot in Mouth” awards,...

When Rush Limbaugh started syndicating his talk radio show over a decade ago, he changed American society. Before Rush came along, AM radio in this country was on life-support. Most radio listeners wouldn't bother to put up with the static to listen to oldies, news, or religious programming that dominated the AM band. Rush came along with his conservative views, took the risk of going national with a talk show and the rest is history. Right-wing politicians and voters have a home and can get a daily fix of conservative propaganda. But liberals in this country have long wanted the...

Once upon a time in Hollywood they made movies with plots. Once upon a time in Hollywood they made movies with screenplays. Once upon a time in Hollywood the producers were able to put a lid on mental case directors who threatened to make movies that made almost no sense. Unfortunately, today in Hollywood all of these transgressions take place with increasing frequency. A previous example of such a senseless movie was The Matrix Reloaded which is now rivaled in senselessness by Once Upon A Time In Mexico. Excuse me. Did I refer to Once Upon A Time In...

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Denying any anti-American sentiment on his part, actor Johnny Depp said on Thursday that quotes attributed to him as likening the United States to a "dumb puppy" were inaccurate and taken out of context. "I am an American. I love my country and have great hopes for it," Depp said in a statement released by his Los Angeles-based publicist. "It is for this reason that I speak candidly and sometimes critically about it. I have benefited greatly from the freedom that exists in my country and for this I am eternally grateful." Depp, currently starring in...

Johnny Depp is feeling patriotic - about France. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star slammed the United States over Iraq in an interview in the German magazine Stern this week. "America is dumb, is something like a dumb puppy that has big teeth - that can bite and hurt you, aggressive," he was quoted as saying. Depp lives in France with the French singer and actress Vanessa Paradis, with whom he has two children. He said he was delighted when he saw that French fries had been rechristened "freedom fries" in the U.S. Capitol canteen. "Nothing made me happier than...

french news BERLIN, Sept 3 (AFP) - Hollywood hearthrob Johnny Depp has slammed US President George W. Bush's policy on Iraq, calling him "one of the worst liars I have ever seen," in an interview with German magazine Stern to appear Thursday. Depp, who lives in France with his wife, pop singer Vanessa Paradis, and two children, told the magazine that "grown-up men and women in positions of power" in the US government had shown themselves to be "idiots" in choosing to go to war against Iraq and attacking Paris for its opposition to the war. The 40-year-old, who plays...

BERLIN - American actor Johnny Depp (news) likened his native country to a "dumb puppy that has big teeth" in an interview published Wednesday, ridiculing Washington's confrontation with France, where he lives, over the war in Iraq (news - web sites). The "Edward Scissorhands" and "Sleepy Hollow" star, who spends much of his time in the south of France with his companion, Vanessa Paradis (news), and their two small children, told the German magazine he couldn't see himself paying more than short visits to his Los Angeles residence in the present political climate. Johnny Depp Says U.S. Is Like a 'Dumb Puppy' By REUTERS Filed at 7:48 a.m. ET BERLIN (Reuters) - Hollywood star Johnny Depp said on Wednesday the United States was a stupid, aggressive puppy and he would not live there until the political climate changed. The 40-year-old actor, who stars in the ``Pirates of the Caribbean,'' told the German news magazine Stern he was happier staying in the south of France with his wife, the French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis, and their two children. ``America is dumb, it's like a dumb puppy that has big teeth that can bite...

In recent weeks there has been an upsurge, even from the Democrats in Congress, about the evils of expressing your First Amendment rights if it means criticizing a Hollywood celebrity. The elite are protected from the "rabble" both by the Democrats, who think they know who butters their bread, and by the media, which sees anyone who doesn't think like them as, well, "rabble." Apparently the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is at the disposal of the left but not anyone else. The left can boycott, criticize and pretty much damn the government and country and anyone else they...

Basing a movie on a Disneyland ride sounds like a dopey idea. It would have definitely been stupid if the ride in question was the one with all those kiddie puppets singing "It's A Small World After All." That is absolutely the WORST Disneyland ride ever conceived. I should know. I once visited Disneyland as part of a Democrat group tour back when Karenna was too young to annoy me every day about wanting to be a White House social butterfly. I took Karenna to Disneyland figuring it would help my credentials as a family guy for a future...

USA Weekend.com ran a July 6, 2003, story on the “always offbeat” star of the new Disney movie, “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.” Basically, the story on Depp is a condemnation of America, its people and its place in the world. Johnny “loves” America, but prefers France. He moved there five years ago and has never looked back. You see France is far more civilized than America for Johnny as he is “shocked by the gun violence in American schools and feels it is far safer raising a family in France.”
