Back 4-5 years ago there was a different attitude here, not like today. We have lost some very good people since then, some by passing on and other doing the opus thing or getting banned.Trolls were not a problem back then, we only had 2 or three maybe a month. The yahoo site was a gathering place to have fun, no rules, just right.

What's doing the opus thing? I've been a lurker for a long time, even went to the impeachment rally in DC on Halloween 1998, but still never heard of the opus thing or the chat room.

When a Freeper writes his opus when they voluntarily leave as a poster on FR. Just type in opus in the search option as a key word and you will understand.

Oh. I guess I never saw one of thoses before. I did take a break from lurking for a while. And I have seen the cartoon character Opus here before but I guess i thought it was a joke. On my post 23 I should have used a question mark. WHen you can't hear inflections and tones like speaking, I think it's easy to not understand. It was not meant to be offensive but more of a question.

The chat room wouldn't even have to be all about politics 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Or at least not directly, it could be about movies or day to day stuff. That's what I was looking for when I asked.

nopardons, I'm having a senior moment-- I swear, the last time FR was down- some time ago- I found a link to live chat, but I'll be dogged if I can remember where or what it was... something like "freerepublic radio?"

All I remember is it allowed only a set number of people to log in at a time, so people kept coming & going to make room for others.

SILLY, Viking Kitty! As you can see from the pics she is a well qualified Viking Kitty. She eats jerky and "tries" to drink my beer, she's ornery, headstrong, and generally a pain in the butt!!! (Particularly when she's in heat and I won't let her outside!!!!) LOL

In this photo we see Silly at the door when I say "Disruptor"	Silly immediately takes up her position on the desk and contemplates the "ZOT" button	Here, Silly decides that the "ZOT" is in order, and she reaches for the "ZOT" button	Here, Silly advises me of a successful "ZOT" operation.
