Looks like a realatively high volume of page requests is overwhelming FR yet again. Perhaps it's past time to call in some FR code jockeys to get this straightened out?

OK now I've watched several posters in the last few minutes, post articles. The article titles, are in all-caps.

Is anyone else noticing problems with pages on FR today. Main forum page and threads are not showing fully for me in either Internet Explorer or Google Chrome.

Hopefully, John will check his messages soon and get the problem fixed, but until then, the temporary workaround is to go to Account (located at the top of the latest posts page) and then My Preferences and set 20 messages per page and 20 results per page: http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/settings Sorry about the recurring problem and hoping John gets a permanent fix soon. Sidebar is no longer on my FR page. How do I get it back?

uhm... i guess i created an account MAYBE ten minutes ago, and its saying my account is too new to do anything... do i need to register anything? i already registered my email, so do i need to do anything else? am i missing something?

When I go to the Forum page, (on the left side) I get the last post entered on the topic threads instead of the intro post.

Are we starting to have technical/server issues again? I've tried accessing through different computers with differnt browsers but have found the same problems on each: 1) My sidebars have vanished. 2) Only about a dozen or so articles display on the main page. 3) On some article, particularly the graphics intense only part of the article displays. It appears as though the server is timing out too quickly.

Anyone else having problems?

Been out to the back 40 today. Toil on Sunday....non-skilled but necessary grunt work leaves time for prayer and reflection. Anyway, I get done, showered, and supped, then FReep on....whaaa? The format is totally changed. All quick links to Breaking, and Activism is gone. Ten and the beginning of an 11th thread is as far as I can scroll. I hit NextPage, and the full 11th doesn't show. Odd observation, but it has been seen in six different threads the past few minutes: The thread title, and the usual FreeRepublic title block will display. But only 14 to 18 replies are displayed, and no end-of-thread links nor the usual FreeRepublic lower page links.

OK fellow FR ping list managers, here is a place to gather, to chat and to identify issues that we need help with. Me first, since this is my thread. The pro-life/Catholic ping list is now so large that the system pings twice and three times all too often. Any ideas on fixing this?

Sorry that the truncating pages and missing sidebars problem is back again. I'm trying to reach John so he can fix it. No luck so far. Hope he checks his messages soon. I've also asked him what causes this, but he hasn't answered. Hoping we can get a permanent fix soon. Meanwhile, the work around is to set the number of results and items per page to 20 each. Look for the "My Preferences" link under "Account" at the top of any of the latest posts index pages. Thanks

Help! Today I started getting pop-ups while Posting Comments on Free Republic. I am also getting some of the words and terms in my comment turned into hyperlinks. This is in Firefox 18.0.1 Popup Blocker is "On" in Firefox Options. Any ideas? Thanks!

Lost my sidebars and scrolling down again!! It was fine just a moment ago!

Free Republic is only showing a few posts at http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/*/index. When one goes to the next page a lot of posts are skipped. Anyone else seeing this?

All I see is the sidebar for breaking news on my left, and I logged out and logged in again I am going to taqke a shower, keep posting if anything new happens!

FR page lay out looks strange on my computer. Wondering if anybody else is having this problem? Looks like something is screwy with the HTML.

The Freerepublic pages are not fully loading, leaving the pages cutoff in the middle of a comment. The navigation selections at the bottom of the pages are not accessible.

I'm only getting about 8 postings at a time this morning. Anybody else having trouble viewing FR's normal number of postings? jagusafr

Who is blocking comments on the Free Republic I used to love. (Used to being the KEY WORD here). Has Jim been warned not to let anything controversial (anti Obama - anti government) pass? Have we lost our right of free speech? Yes. It definitely has been or is being enforced on FR this past month or so.

With Free Republic surely getting slammed tomorrow, what is an on-line alternative to TV with the ability to post comment?

Some good news perhaps. John says he has found a problem with one of the servers and he's going to try to configure around it. But it'll take him a couple hours or more before he's ready to test it. Hang in there. Prayers up that it works!

This site has been a frustrating disaster for the last week. What the he'll is going on? I can't get the page to load but 1 of 4 attempts. I'm about to give up, and I've been a member since 1998. Please tell me this will be fixed before Tuesday!!

I saw quite a few threads commenting on how slow the website has been. I have seen a big improvement in the last 4 or 5 days. Something has changed for the better and I think deserves a thread for people to comment. Thanks to Jim Robinson for all you do to help us connect.

Very sorry about the problems with our servers causing FR to get bogged down under peak traffic loads. Praying that John finds a solution or workaround soon. In the meantime, here are some suggestion you can use to possibly make your FR pages load faster: Configure your sidebars to display fewer items. I've temporarily disabled all sidebars but breaking news on mine. Select "Disabled" in the "Region" pulldown for each sidebar block you wish to temporarily disable then click "Modify": http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/manage-blocks Reduce the number of threads and replies downloaded on each click. Has there been some change to Free Republic that I am not aware? Is everyone subject to these new rules? All of my post are now "subject to review." Is this a new feature for all posts or just mine? I notice I am not allowed to send mail. The message is my account is too "new" for this feature. I have been a member since August 29, 2010. I have posted 514 articles. I have made 390 comments. It's odd that I can't find a setting for this under my account. I've searched forums for how to do this but I get nothing. Again; odd. I can't be the only one who has wondered how to do this...

It is a credit to the success of FR that we run into traffic issues and slow downs on debates. I will continue to come here for updates. However a back up plan may be to use twitter and end with #FR so tha twe can search by Free Republic tweeters. Just a thought. Jim thanks for all your work on this site!

It started early this morning. Every thread I clicked on had a banter of double entendres, puns, jokes, and general silliness and cleverness. Many were laugh out loud funny. Is it the hurricane? Is everyone half looped? Are people juiced up for the RNC Convention? Have your kids finally driven you crazy while they were home for the summer? Whatever it is, keep it up. It's hilarious.

I just clicked on a link a FR article and was directed to a "Freerepublic survey" It had an audio component asking questions too. I closed it immediately. Anyone else get this? I am logged in, beebers are stuned, weasels are sporked, etc

I,like some but unlike many,make many eoors when posting.Spelling (yes,I use spell check...usually),punctuation and other errors are often made by me.Is there a way that FR can set up something like what I've seen on other forums (car forums,for example) that allow the poster to delete of edit a post after "post" has been hit? I know nothing about computers and,therefore,don't know how difficult and/or expensive it be,if it's possible at all.Thanks!
