Why is the deuce-5 on the DND list? Don't know. I heard that on NPR, and then checked with transportation to confirm. NPR actually got one right.
No reason given, just the factoid confirmed.

We were in the most forward deployed division in the army, and still working on deuce-and-a-half trucks that we were ordered not to order parts for (they were to be replaced by the new LMTV later this year- vehicles that I had signed for at Fort Campbell two years prior).
