A cousin found this photo of my grandmother, taken around 1900. Lola MacDougal, 1884-1965
She's beautiful.
She was something else, raised 8 successful kids. My grandfather died about 1926, when my father was 16, and between the two of them they paid the mortgage and kept food on the table through the depression. The old house in Decatur, Georgia, was always so full of kids and grandkids that the ground shook. During WWII, my father and his brothers were overseas, and everyone else homed in on Decatur.
She's lovely!
What wonderful treasure for you!

Beautiful picture. Thank you for sharing.
Was MacDougal her married name?
Maiden name. She married Charles Dougherty Honiker, in 1906. Swiss and Scot, with a jigger of Cherokee, no wonder I have an attitude problem!
Thank you for sharing her picture with us. If my math is correct, isn't she about 16 in the picture? When did she marry your grandfather?
Wish I could find a pic of my ancestors from 1900.
But I do have my grandparents' wedding photo from 1911.
Priceless!
You into genealogy?
She married in 1906.
I was into genealogy a lot before I started having health problems, but it is a lot of work.
There is a site called "Ancient Faces". Go do some searching, could be a distant relative has posted some of your family picures.
Neat site. My great-great-grandmother ran a professional photo studio for about 20 years, and we have boxes and boxes and boxes of old family photos, most of them firmly ID'd, and some that are quite unusual for the era because they are "candid" shots at home, from a time when for most people getting a photo taken was a big event that only took place in a studio. Somehow I need to find the time to post them all. My favorite is one of my great-grandmother at about age 5, in Victorian dress with button-up shoes, lying on the seat of a living room rocking chair sound asleep.
I just love old photographs like that! Thank you so much for sharing.
