The pit bull belonged to a family member, Turquoise Robinson. Police took her into custody on unrelated charges. As she was being taken into custody on Monday afternoon, Robinson saw NBC 10 reporter Tim Furlong near a police car waiting to take her away. "Why are they taking you away?" asked Furlong, as Robinson walked by. Robinson then spit on the reporter as a cameraman taped the incident, and she responded, "that's why."

That certainly leads ME to believe the dog was well-behaved. Sheesh. Prayers for the poor girl.

Sounds like a stereotypical pit bull owner.

I saw a pit bull bite through steel belted radial tires on a car one time. Some people say it's the way the dogs are trained not the breed itself, but these dogs scare the heck out me. I wouldn't have one around kids.

I used to believe the "it's the owners, not the dogs" argument. I don't anymore. These dogs need to be banned.

Only dog I ever shot was part pit bull, and unpredictable as hell.

May God aid the little one in her recovery.

Shoot the dog and jail the owner.

I'm not suprised. Plenty of people out there who refuse to get a Real Dog:

Me too. A man had one outside the 7-11 near me a few weeks back, very friendly-looking, letting people pet him. Beautiful coloring - almost blue. The man with her invited her to pet him, but my daughter wouldn't go near it, and she LOVES dogs. I picked her up instead and we admired the dog from afar. :)

I own a Pit Bull and he is a very nice well-behaves dog. I realize that there are instances were the breed has attacked people, but that should not be used to condemn the entire breed. It is usually the result ofpoor training and irresponsible ownership. Any type of dof can attack a child. Large dog breeds do the most damage. The media sensationalizes Pit Bull attacks and ignores the story when another type of dog is involved in a vicious attack. The media also reports Pit Bull attacks when it is actually other breeds. This happened in San Francisco when the woman was mauled to death by another breed of dog. This is bs media sensationlism. How many kids were harmed from violence, drugs, and other real problems today.

I grew up around these dogs years back there were no problems they were pets and the only dog that could hang out with us we were pretty rough on them even in the little rascals was one I guess the nut-cases have bred them too close and destroyed the breed now like a red nose ?? I never saw one before..

The man with her invited her to pet him, should read "the man with him (dog) invited her (my daughter) to pet him (dog)." Sorry ;).

A small percentage of people who own and breed the dogs abuse them to make them ferocious attack dogs and fighting dogs. They choose Pit Bulls because of their strenght and tenacity. Most people who own the dogs are regular people. These criminals combined with the medias distortions are responsible for the breeds reputation. They were the most commonly owned breed of sog in the 1920s America.

They should. A breed named "PIT BULL" should be a warning sign, not a status symbol. Some people know how to handle dogs, most don't. I've owned and handled dogs, from Shepherds to Kangals, I don't have the patience nor ability to correctly raise pit bulls.

I'm sure Turquoise Robinson (Police took her into custody on unrelated charges) has even less dog training talents than myself......
