JR ol' buddy, you're not even making sense.

denial

No denial here. I am fully aware that my dogs could mess somebody up.

They're killers.

They have that capability. So do you.

The emotions and psychology of a dog and a human are really quite different, and do not bear a direct comparison.

We never made claims to the contrary.

But as the First Amendment does not defend anyone against screaming Fire! in a crowded theater, illogical positions don't give you the right to harbor animals that are the most likely of their species to harm or kill us.

Incongruous comparisons. Illogical positions? Who here has that? And speaking of species most likely to harm/kill..

what is it about this breed that attacts so many "bad" owners?

I reckon many folks think owning this dog makes them badasses. And I reckon many folks who have the need to be a badass also possess a certain disregard for correct animal stewardship. I think folks on this thread have covered that point well.

How's that for an unsolicited response sans bloviating. I return to my previous point, which was, as long as I or anyone else controls his property, what business is it of yours?

That being said, if said property enters the public domain, then the public possesses the right and obligation to settle any issues...

Becky. Better overcautious than dripping blood in the ER.

Stay safe. And thanks.

"We have to keep in mind though that "pit bulls" are part terrier.
Terriers do have an accentuated prey drive.
While any particular "pit bull" will have this trait to a greater or lesser extent,
anyone considering owning one should made aware of this."

I like that part about the "accentuated prey drive".

kinda like how wolves and crocodiles are nice critters--they just have accentuated prey drives!

Some breeders claim that Pit Bulls are impervious to pain.

They are, once they are on the attack. It is part of their nature as fighting dogs. They get full of adrenalin, and will continue with the attack until they either win the fight or die.

Pit bulls can be nice dogs, but if something triggers their fighting instinct, they alter in an instant. As one English writer said, they can be kept as pets, but one day the dog's eyes go glassy, and it springs its big surprise.

Another problem is that they are hugely powerful. They can't be subdued.

A Pit Bull attacked a neighbor's Beagle. I hit the Pit Bull with three rounds from my .357 .

That got the dog's attention, he dropped the Beagle. I imagine he was was in shock. He started to trot away.

Another neighbor put seven rounds from his 9mm into him. . At that point , the dog had some serious sucking wounds, he collapsed and died.

I believe it. They actually bit through and flattened the steel belted radials on a police car. The cops shot them multiple times before the dogs died. The dog owner sued too. Scary animals.
