A few of us were thinking of starting an on-going FReeper diet and fitness thread. It would be a place where we could discuss weight loss, diet, exercise, getting back in shape, encourage each other in our efforts to get healthy, and celebrate our successes.
Any fitness or activity level. 100+ pounds to lose or no weight to lose. Those who have lost weight and kept it off, please share with us what has worked for you. Maybe you love a certain activity, biking, skiing, rock climbing, walking, running, whatever, tell us about how it helps you stay in shape. Share your weight loss success. Just a place to exchange ideas about all things exercise and diet related.
Don't be shy! As Freepers we spend a whole bunch of time in front of our computers and more then a few of us could do with some exercise and probably a little weight loss.
NO VERBAL ATTACKS! NO NAME CALLING! NO BASHING! THE OVERWEIGHT! NO NASTY PICTURES POSTED! This will be a thread about getting healthy and no attacks will be tolerated.

I would love that, b/c I love riding. Unfortunately the bouncing is out of the question. Thanks, though.

"Coincidentally, I went shopping last night and started Atkins today (I know - some people don't like it, but it consistently works for me)" You are lucky Atkins consistently works for you.
I, too, lost lots of weight over two years ago on Atkins. Am trying to get my mind right and in the zone to lose again after starting Atkins again in January. The first time I did Atkins, I lost 8 lbs the first week. This time, only three. I continued for another two weeks and only lost 6 lbs and promptly fell off the wagon.
Now, I'm gearing up to try losing again but this time it won't be on Atkins. I took my one golden shot and blew it and don't have the desire to sacrifice so much for so little.

This GPS microcaching, if that is what it is, sound suspiciously like the exchanging of mathoms!
But what better use to put the greatest navigational instrument ever conceived by man :-D

I gathered in your later replies that jarring was bad... There are low impact ways of riding, walking on trails for example, but none can guarantee you'll never be jarred... it's not for everyone I knew.

ALL of my 10,000 diets started on a Monday. That way, I can stuff my face for two days non-stop before starting my 'diet'.

Atkins has to be a way of life. You can not go off and not gain the weight back. Just increase your carbs and eat only the accepted foods.
