Good luck, Taiwan. You'll need it.

President Bush should have the leaders of Taiwan on the phone today informing them that if China decides to move on them, they're on their own. Good luck, it was nice knowin' ya.

Before today I believed a majority of Americans had the intestinal fortitude to see the fight for a future free from Islamic fascism through to the end. I believed we had learned from the past that we won't lose on the battlefield, we'll only lose the fight at home and we, enough of us anyway, surely won't let that happen again.

That was utterly pollyanish and wishful thinking. Our inevitable redeployment(i.e.retreat) from Iraq will send shockwaves around the world. The Muzzies will be dancing in the streets(umm, they already are) and congratulating Osama for his prescience in concluding that America has no stomach for a long fight and our allies or potential ones will always know that America is a reliable partner only if the work is quick and painless.

Ironically, I just finished reading Flags of Our Fathers which recounts the lives and actions of the six Americans who raised the flag on Mt. Suribachi and their brethern Marines who weathered the toughest 30 days of fighting in modern American warfare---7,000 dead and 26,000 casualties. And that came at the end of 4 years that saw 300,000 deaths and almost 700,000 wounded. Yet those Americans, that America, took body blow after body blow, kept getting off the mat and defeated not one but two existential threats to our way of life.

As I have posted before, I feared that that America is merely a distant memory and doesn't exist anymore--at least in sufficient quantity to make a difference. That fear was played out last night in umambiguous terms. We just gave the Jihadists the green light to come after us at their leisure. We'll bluster, threaten and bellow and talk a good game but when the going gets tough or long, we'll fold our tents and go home.

I fear for my children and their children today.

I fear for my country.

Not going to happen until after the Olympics are held in China.

At that point....

Listening to Mr. Bush in his press conference today I'd say his scrotum has shrunk considerably.
Can I kiss your ass Ms. Pelosi?

Unfortunately, your observations are directly on target, and they echo thoughts that I myself had earlier today. This election has provided the template for any tyrant, any wanna-be tyrant, and every jihadi on how to defeat the United States in any conflict. All that they need to do is to join forces with America-haters in the Democrat party and the media (is there any difference?), and keep up the drumbeat of propaganda, and the corrosive fifth column will do the heavy lifting for them.

China's leadership certainly understands this well. Putin's cronies have undoubtedly taken notice. France's backstabbing class sees it as well. And the Iranian nutjobs, Venezuelan idiots, Al Quaeda murderers, Palestinian murderers, Baathists, and other assorted thugs see it clearly, too. They have plans that will unfold over time. The lives of their subjects are cheap, and their ambitions are unlimited. They have little to worry about - after all, who is going to stop them now?

Tawain would be far safer if the Republican Congress had not used Chinese funded debt to massively expand the size and scope of the Federal Government.

"The Greatest Generation" of Americans gave birth to The Worst Generation: That is we boomers; self-indulgent, childish, effeminate and narcissistic. Time for the few men of the Worst Generation to hide your guns: You're going to need them one day.

I'm not going to be afraid. But I'm not going to live in a major US city (make that target) either.

We just moved one step towards the dark ages today. How bad will it have to be before we take these jihadists seriously?

I think the message has been sent. What could have been solved conventionally will now go nuclear. The ignorance of the citizenry has now ushered in the Biblical holocaust predicted centuries ago. A godless society cannot elect good men to office. Iran is free to take the middle east on their own timetable. Israel will have to thaw out their nuclear weaponry.

C'mon. Colin Powell already announced to Taiwan that
it was owned by China, in October of 2004. Fistfights broke
out in the Taiwanese legislature over the matter, and we
nearly lost a big arms sale of jets over it. It has nothing
to do with the Democrats.

Good luck Iraq, good luck S. Korea...... The Dems will "have" to show that they are different. They will make an effort to demonstrate that they made a change somewhere. The hard nose methods that are "necessary" with nations like Iran or N. Korea will fail with them sharing power. For our nations security this is a disaster.

China will annex Taiwan later or sooner. The Guomintang supports it. In the real world, the U.S. is not going to fight a country with 1.4 billion people and 200 nuclear warheads to prevent it.
