As we settle into the nighttime of dispair, fret not, for the Sun will rise again!
Good morning!!
We, here, will never forget those who died on September 11, 2001, as we seek to protect the Republic from all who will do her harm!
Breaking News--The Earth is not flat!
It is in this vein that we get a report from the Commission on Why in the World Can't We Figure Out How to Get Iraq to get Shopping Carts for its Homeless, or the Iraq Commission for short. They report that things haven't gone exactly as planned in the Iraq War.
What a shocker. And to add to that they have the temerity to suggest that we might actually have to think of something else to do.
Keep in mind we paid mucho millions of dineros to get this information.
Maybe that's why the media are fawning all over this information. Iraq is messed up, then again, so am I first thing in the morning. Neither is a pretty sight.
Front page news in virtually every left wing outlet this morning--the President must do something different. After all, this from the Committee on Giving Iraqis Running Water for their Toilets. Where were they last week when the President himself said something to the effect that Iraq, well, needs a new direction. Maybe the media thought the President was referring to some new sports car that made an error in the Springfield Mixing Bowl interchange on Highway 495.
Of course, this can't be a total love-in by the 1960s nostalgic media unless it pulls in some fellow nutcases. Queue Algore, enter stage left.
"Worst mistake in the history of the United States" pines the man who thought he was once the "next Prsident of the United States. At least the worst mistake since allowing Mr. Algore anywhere near a microphone and camera combination.
The report lays out some 79 recommendations. Let's take a look at a few.
10. Iraqis should stop killing each other. If only they would stop doing this, well, we could get away from this messy war thingy.
9. Provide massive humanitarian aid, especially in the form of prozac. If everyone is happy, then no one is mad. Again, we get beyond the war issue.
8. Declare victory. Hey it worked, sort of, in Vietnam, why wouldn't it work here?
7. Send Jesse Jackson to mediate. At least he wouldn't be mediating over here.
6. Raise the minimum wage for Iraqis. The left claims that makes people happy over here, so it should make Iraqis happy over there. Yes, just throw money to the masses.
5. Get that water running to sanitary facilities. A clean Iraqi is a happy Iraqi, and a happy Iraqi doesn't shoot other Iraqis.
4. Education--get them smarter. This is good. One of two things will happen. Either they'll wise up and stop shooting, or they'll get a big enough bomb to blow everything up over there. Hopefully it stays over there.
3. Send Jay Leno. Maybe they'll be laughing too much to cause more trouble.
2. Force the Iraqis to fill out American levels of paperwork before they are allowed to fight any more conflicts. The shear weight of the effort is sure to exhaust the most die-hard extremist.
And, for the number 1 solution? Drum roll, please...
1. Elect real Republicans. Not the pansy folks we have now that will do anything to make the left happy thinking they'll go away. Just as the Iraqi terrorist groups are a wartime enemy, the Neo-Communist Party (aka Democratic Party of the USA) are the sworn enemy of any true Republican. The mere fact they took a yawn report and are trumpeting this as the gospel according to Nancy Pelosi, or some twaddle like that, ought to be proof enough.
Stay the course. Change the methodology, sure, but keep the eye on the prize. Both militarily and politically.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
Did we kill the thread ladies?
Good Morning Bev. I am just sitting down to rest a minute and enjoy the last of the pot of coffee.
I am making good progress. But there is much to be done.
I have to rest between chores too, IG. Making party mix now and starting to wrap presents.
I'm at work and was called into a very important (sic) weekly meeting with my "manager".
I was feelig like the lone ranger there having to rest between chores! My mind says I'm too young for this nonsence, but my body remends me that I need a "guennie" each afternoon at 4 pm. I literally fall asleep sitting up if I don't lay down...
Now I KNOW we are dead.....
HOB, we'd better check for halitosis or BO since everybody has skedaddled.
Good morning, everyone - stopped home on my lunch break because I just about exploded yesterday not being able to post from work. So MUCH sanctimonious twittery running amok on the other side of FR!!
The other comment I wanted to make was about one of the uses the Shy family has for PVC pipe: we use it for curtain rods. I love it - I can paint it to match my decor, cut it for oddly sized windows or walls, and either toss it or cut it up and recycle it when I'm tired of it since it's so inexpensive.
Got to get going - have a wonderful day, everyone!
till, after I received the note from my cousin yesterday about her son in Iraq, I messaged back to her with some questions.
I 'thought' her son is in the Army, yet calling in air strikes suggested he is in the Air Force.
Here is her reply:
Yes...he is with the Army. But, as I am learning through history and education. They can be attached to another "unit". XXX (editorial comment here, XXX is another son of hers) was attached to the Marines when he was in Okinawa. He is a Naval Officer. XXXX (the son currently stationed in Iraq) practiced calling in air strikes all summer on a computer. Now...when ground forces need "air support" he calls in air strikes. Sounds formidable to me. However, farming is a dangerous career too.
So altho it's complicated, I'm beginning to understand.
And I do expect that XXXX will return to Iowa upon his retirement and take up cattle feeding. The industry is ripe for expansion, his father is nearing retirement and has excellent foundation stock. So his second career will be a never ending one.
I just sent your post ot Mr Hob since he is unfamiliar with PVC piping and it's uses other than plumbing. He is concerned with the effort it will take to get the hooks into the pipe. Your post should allay his fears.
Merry Christmas everyone @ : )
Off to town, be back later. Toby
To all ATRWers - as you know mostly I lurk and will continue to do so. I get a lot of inspiration from youse guys, particularly the MIL and Mother caretaker types. Bev uplifted me with her love for Miss Lilly and with the love she and Larry share and how he keeps watch over her still, making sure she oils the RV, etc.
So many more "family"
Well - just an update - this has been the year from hell as have spent most of it in and out of the hospital with cardiac problems. Just got out yesterday after throwing a tantrum and refusing any more "procedures" until after Christmas. Except for the pacemaker, a wonderful device, NOTHING has improved.
With any luck you will not have to listen to any more of this sniveling.

OK - in the "no wonder they hate us" category. Unfortunately by now just another excuse for the "Religion of Peace". "When we were for a period of time about 1990, in Singapore and Kuala Lamper, we noticed that, particularly Singapore, refused admission to Michael Jackson and Madonna "culture". This evidently was the exportation of American values.
What has our Country come to? Last Fri. I turned on TV for the first time since the election. For three hours the repeat story was whether Britney Spears was wearing underwear. GOOD LORD.
Off to catch up lurking.
Thanks for being here.
As Mr. HOB would say "Hey, Hayburner" @ : ) Good to see you. HOB
Prayers for you... dear one....and lysie hugs , too.
Yes, when a service need help from another service the "expert" is assigned for about a year or less, depending on the need. We've been there, done that.
Boy, from what I've seen around here, farming is a dangerous employment. It's not unusual to see a farmer without a finger/fingers, a hand, an arm or even a leg. Tractors. Riding herd on cattle is also dangeroous, i['ve seen what horses can do to someone. But, who would change it? After all farming and ranching are feeding the nation and helping other nations eat well too.
Oh, and Bill Richardson has told Fox he is going to run for president. Goody.
Well I tuned into the Senate on CSPAN II awhile ago to get most of Rick Santorum's farewell..gracious, proud, heartfelt. There was only Mitch McConnell on hand to listen, and reply with appreciation of his service.
Godspeed Rick Santorum. I pray that you find new opportunities for service to those in peril whose cause you champion!
