Well, the talk with animal control was valuable. Sounds like at least the situation has someone with some sense at the enforcement end :~)

Well, the animal control guy had some sense, you're right, but the powers to be that he works for are idiots.

Even tho they KNOW that Beth is in the wrong, and her son is causing trouble, they are catering to her, just so she will leave them alone. The issued a court order that if anyone at anytime sees the dog out it will be euthenised immediately, even tho they KNOW the kid was teasing it...If I had any desire to get involved which I don't, that is where I'd get involved at....telling the city authorities I don't appreciate them letting this looney woman control them. Because from the things he told me....she is a pure D NUT case....I learned things about her I didn't know before....YIKES, she's scary. But the powers are giving in to her because she is raising such a stink, and does this sort of thing often....

Well, that part does sound nuts. Has the dog owner been talked to also, so he's at least warned?

Yeah, they know what's going on. The dog is in a pen.

As Mack said the squeaky wheel gets the oil....I just always applied that to when the squeaky wheel had a right to squeak:). It's hard for me to imagine that they are letting her run them like this...

The squeaky wheel gets the oil, and no one ignores the crazy person who has an invisible chainsaw on the bus either :~)

Yeah, but you know this is our law enforcement people. They should not be giving in to a crazy lady just to keep her off their backs. Isn't it their job to enforce laws fairly? If they know that kid has been down there tormenting that dog, is it right for them to put the dog under a death threat because his momma is a nut:)?

He told me also, I think this is funny, that he asked the chief of police if he could keep an eye on her and give her a ticket when he sees her riding her horse down the road. Apparently there is a law against that...you have to have a permit to ride on roads within the city limits, and we're in city limits. The CofP, told him NO, don't be messing with her:)

I noticed that thread on the other forum about getting a new horse and that reminded me of this post of yours, about Tiff riding tell:).

That's great that she rode him...has she done any ground work or did she just climb on:). What did he do that made her say he was a lot to handle? I'm glad to hear she went to an arena.

She said she had lunged him at home after I told her he did lunge well. He does.

And she lunged him when she got there after she tacked up. She said she was ~really~ nervous to get on, Bob really made him out to be dangerous and filled her head full of all kinds of horrors. She said as scared as she was, he really did pretty well, he just jumped at things, a horse started squealing and banging on the other side of the wall and he jumped, and there was something about a weird sunspot on the arena floor he didn't like. Otherwise she said he was just really fast and didn't want to walk and his trot was really rough (that surprises me, it looks like a pretty smooth efficient trot from the ground) - that might just be nerves too and he'll smooth out if he settles down. And she said he was doing a lot of head tossing, thinks the Tom Thumb she had him in is not the right bit... that it was too much. I'd like to see him go under saddle next time she goes, she said she'd call.

I just fed horses, I'm pretty pleased with how the new shelter setup is going, although the first few nights I saw Bay out in the rain some, they seem to have all decided to come in the last few nights, and the other good thing, when we got some blustery wind and rain, even thunderstorms lately, they came inside for that even during the day, which they could never do when they had to be closed out during the day.

With feeding in there, they're doing good. They did good for about 3-4 days, and then one day they all decided to test the rules. I think that's pretty normal for horses, they'll start out fine doing something new but at some point they're going to test. I had to spray Cyn with the hose a couple times to keep her from running the pony out of her grain. She didn't like that at all. Now she looks at me, and looks at the pony and just stands there mad when she's done with her grain.

LOL:)

Well I was/am impressed that your horses don't continually test, they learn to stay out of each others feed.

I've tried feeding horses together, and never had any luck with it.

Good job:)

Good Morning.

Sunshine again today, with temps close to 50 again. Great day to haul the mares. Kids got home last night and my daughter is off today, so we will haul them for the lady. Then, I can bring my horse home. We have to be home when Alison gets off the bus, so hopefully after that we can get him. If we can get that old diesel started, that has sat for 10 days.

Well it helps that Bay is the slowest eater, because he's not usually an issue, and that the pony gets the least amount. She's usually pretty much done by the time Cyn gets done with hers. If the low man is also a slow eater then you have to separate them :~)

Duchess, I noticed you were on this thread on the horse.com forum http://forum.horse.com/tm.asp?m=206534&mpage=1&key=

It's about not ever selling a horse. "You wouldn't sell your children, would you? Then you shouldn't sell a horse."

If I comment, I'm gonna get banned. I've already been warned.

Oh yeh - I have a very hard time not getting nasty. Come on, let's keep the horse and lose the house and starve the kids. Some of these people live in lala land :)

They need to take a shot at being a single parent for awhile, it might open their eyes a little. What will they do if the choice is between buying hay for the horses or food for a child or making a mortgage payment.

The horse.com forum bit about not ever selling a horse made me think of what happened the other day at work. We got some lab results back for a client's horse, and I had to call the owner to ask for a pharmacy number to call in a prescription for thyroid meds. The lady asked if I could call it in under another (people) name so that it could get covered by that person's insurance, because she was saying that they had no money. So I argued with her, and said no because of licensing etc. So she got mad at me and finally agreed to pay for the medication herself. But my thought is, if you don't have the money, don't have the horse It's not fair to anyone involved, person or horse. Especially the horse. I don't think that I'm being rude or callous or elitist in saying this, because I myself don't have enough money, but at least I realize that....
