Folks like Craig and Kidman could usher a new Golden Age. The beauty of it is - they're not Americans.
Just ... um.
Cute gals; cute movie!
Once upon a time there was a little girl who grew up in the ghetto who was unable to read because she was failed by the system
..
Apparently Walt Disney wasnt the only one who believed in fairytales.
Didn't watch it, didn't care to. Didn't know who the hell they were for the most part. After seeing the photos on this thread I couldn't name more than 25% of them. Found "Dogfight" on the History Channel more intertaining than watching the awards.
That's what I was thinking! Looks more like Bubba than Algore.
Since most people, at least for a while, in America prefer or preferred English as a dominant language and are against Illegal Immigrants it would sure be a crowd-pleaser, probably the best answer to Al Gore's movie.
But guess what, imagine Sheryl Crow doing a song called "No Free Lunch" and imagine words at the back about writing to your congressmen. Imagine two anti-Illegal Immigration people, including Tom Tancredo, do a talk about it.
Excellent points.
You did a great job on the thread last night.
Wow, those two look great. I think they are making a movie together right now, or just finished one.
Thank you, since I watched the Oscars and felt that there was no other way to vent out my anger and outrage, I decided to let it go here. Afterall, this isn't a thread for everyone.
I was about to contact someone to see if it would let me down, and was afraid that it was too much, as I elaborate a lot and crash down points. I also rant a lot partially why I am such a big fan of Dennis Miller.
Part II of Rant:
There are some things that I now remember, all of the jokes and comments about Al Gore, Jack Nicholson looking like James Carville.
In short the Oscars this year was a self-propagating mess rendered by people who could not speak for less than a minute, people who couldn't speak English and the fact that Love You I Do was a tremendous accomplishment for a musical trying to capture a group that almost, if not did, outsold the Beatles.
But boring Melissa, who didn't make her voice as exciting as Come To My Window, just sounds like a blow-dried mother of the attic lesbian with no talent but her sexual orientation I guess(probably one of the reasons why the Oscar was given to her, maybe they should've called the second theme of the Oscars, Lesbians from the Bill Clinton Era, of course excluding Rosie O).
But I am grateful for Little Miss Sunshine to win but was quizzical at how a two hour gypsy/Jew/backwoods Muslim joke called Borat would get nominated for best adapted screenplay.
I liked much of it, including the scene where cockroaches come into the bedroom where Borat and his manager are staying and he thinks that they are the Jews who live in that house. But it was boring, and after a while all of the Roma gypsy jokes would get very old.
Now for at least one movie that I await: I cannot wait for Delta Farce(somebody on another post of mine would note that I hated Health Inspector but it was entertaining, actually. I expect Delta Farce to be much better as it is more conceptual and not just have Larry the Cable Guy in there), I am a comedy guy who likes high-concept movies. I also can't wait for Fred Claus, coming out this year.
But where are the movies on welfare counterfeiters who land a scheme that nobody notices because everybody has the jollies of a welfare system, government subsidized dating and sex, an abortion gone horribly wrong, a Dirty Harry plot with a movie where Civil Rights Lawyers find a drop of black blood in a guy on death row, save him and then they all get murdered by him. There is one issue that Hollywood hasn't dealt with like everything else: Affirmative Action for some reason.
Oh yeah, what about a documentary on how school vouchers can help poor children or how faith-based funding can help the poor who happen to be religious or belong to a group that can help?
A close movie is Demolition Man but I don't know anymore. Another good very Conservative movie, in some regards, is the Marine, dealing with a guy who was discharged from the army for not following PC orders, spends his time trying to find other jobs including being a security guard but is very strong and tough so he gets fired on the first day of that job.
After that he has his wife kidnapped by runaway diamond thieves and has to stop them and rescue her. Most of the humor is very funny. Other great movies are Flyboys and The Great Raid, I rented the Last Drop recently and will see how good that is.
As I have stated in another post called the Liberal rules of Hollywood(see my tagline: I specialize in cinema, music and videogames), Hollywood can make Brokeback Mountain and I am not offended, but Hollywood takes so much time to make at least one film based on one of the many Liberal causes.
If you are a Liberal on Illegal Immigration there is Children of Men, yet that is unexplainable without a Conservative unexamined twist in the story.
On war, there is Syriana somewhat. I mean what if it was in reverse, that there would be one movie to make an emotionally powerful and logical statement about every single Conservative cause, like a buffet. What would the Liberals think then? They could even protest if it happened.
But like those very incredible Pre-War documents on this website, it doesn't seem that many Conservative documentaries and movies nowadays are being made, ESPECIALLY Conservative documentaries. I have a lot of ideas for movies with a Conservative tinge in fact I would love to work in a Media Department coming up with new ideas for movies and/or TV shows but I haven't done it yet.
Personally, I would love to talk to someone here about the arts and politics, if anyone feels like I have caught their tongue with my bait my AIM and Email address are both JohLennon@AOL.com. See UNCLE SADDAM!
You nailed it, I will read the posts, mainly to get suggestions on movies. But as far as watching this lovefest, I couldn't do that
I saw that and was amazed also even if Ewan McGregor(SP?, I think he was the male lead either him or Jude Law) has been known to a be a little bit of a Bush Basher, interestingly enough.
The Island reminds me of Logan's Run, a very underrated movie that satirizes the Socialist utopia and hippies in one fell swoop with Michael York playing Logan.
I very much liked it, as I love Sci-Fi usually(Sci-Fi and Westerns may be the polar opposites but they are probably the two biggest genres to span Conservatism in Hollywood all encompassing under the Action genre) but Children of Men was like stale bread without the butter.
No real explanation of everything except we are just supposed to go "Mexican director makes provocative Pro-Illegal Immigrant film, whooo!" you might as well have Michael Moore constantly say "Bush sucks" as a reviewer of Fahrenheit 9/11 really noted, and the little monkies would see it was the best speech ever. That is just how well trained and conditioned they all are, those little Liberals.
Oops, PIMF little Monkeys I meant.
"Cal" was one of the best movies I ever saw. Helen was super then and still is.
I thought outside of The Departed, Children of Men was the best movie I saw this year. Even with the pro-illegal slant. The way they shot the big shootout at the end was incredible. And I really liked the rest of the plot except for the immigration part.
