Feud turned deadly in N.H. ( cousin of famed skier Bode Miller )

New Hampshire authorities said yesterday that they will not press charges against a former Marine who stepped into a deadly shooting and killed a 24-year-old high school dropout who had moments earlier fatally shot a police officer.

The former Marine, Gregory W. Floyd, 49, was driving with his son along Route 116 in Franconia on Friday night when he saw Liko Kenney, 24, shoot Franconia Police Corporal Bruce McKay, 48, four times in the torso. After Kenney drove his Toyota Celica over McKay as the officer lay on the ground, Floyd grabbed the officer's service weapon and shot and killed Kenney. . . .

The elder Floyd drove his Tahoe into a spot between McKay and Kenney as a shield and told his son, who is in his late teens, to run to the officer's cruiser and radio for help.

The elder Floyd picked up McKay's gun from the ground and ordered Kenney to drop his weapon. Kenney refused, and Floyd saw Kenney appear to be reloading, Conte said. Floyd then shot and killed Kenney, Conte said. . . .

New Hampshire's attorney general, Kelly A. Ayotte, said Floyd will not face charges because he was justified in using deadly force.

I do not deny the tragedy. It was preventable by Lito's incarceration for his former conviction, instead of a bleeding herart liberal plea bargain based on liberal whining about the fact that force had to be used to arrest Lito on his assaulting Bruce in a former arrest in which Bruce was assaulted by Lito.

Its typical liberal whining about being above the law.Lito and his cadre of back woods boy knarlies decided that they were going to control when the law applied to them or not. They still have that attitude in Franconia and Easton, and we have likely not heard the last of it.

Lito should have been behind bars for his former offence, but instead is being lauded as a modern day Sundance Kid? Tell it to the residents of Franconia and Easton who had to protect themselves and will still have to protect themselves and their sidewalk travelling kids from the knarlies going through town doing 80 mph in a 40 mph speed zone, and doing doughnuts in the streets at 2 in the morning. Its gotten a little old.

You bet they're liberals. Law and order is for everybody else but not for them.

Never get out of your car when stopped by an officer unless requested. It's very risky business.

Night stops are even more risky:

If an officer stops you at night, do this before he approaches your drivers side:

1) turn on your interior lights,

2)roll down your window,

3) keep both your hands on the steering wheel where they can be seen.

4) instruct any passengers you have to sit still and be quiet.

These simple things will get you the utmost courtesy from all officers you meet.

Yall don't need quotas but get out of the bushes and in unmarked cars and see what's going on. Some people are just so rude, esp on one lanes. They will tailgate, flash bright lights, pass on the shoulder or worse "part the sea" The road rage is getting really bad but yall aren't going to see it with radar.

Another thing. I usually drive the speed limit. I've only had two speeding tickets and one wasn't deserved. How come though yall like to pull over mustang convertibles. I don't know how many times I have been pulled over or checked out. I finally put the cop magnet in the garage. That speeding ticket I got....people were blaring past me. I got picked though:')

To be certain, NH gun laws are MUCH more “liberal” (in the sense - NOT RESTRICTIVE) and more pro 2nd Amendment. Your state, which I am now in, is even more IMO restrictive than NYC in some ways.

Feud or not......One generally doesn't shoot someone multiple times...then drive over them with a car.

Does one?

That reminds me of an incident near Rankin Tx many years ago. A Texas highway Patrol Trooper stopped a car fo some reason that my old memory fails to remember. (I think it was a stolen vehicle). The perp shoots the trooper as he walks over to the car, and proceeds to get out and pump several more bullets into the downed policeman. A local rancher drives by as this is happening ans stops about 50 yards away, pulls out his 30-06 and blows the perp away with one shot, then uses the trooper’s car rasio to call for help. The trooper dies and there is not even an investigation into the rancher’s actions. The Highway Patrol takes up a collection and buys the rancher a gold plated commerative .45 pistol. The perp’s family then tries suing to force the state to reveal the name and address of the rancher and the state refuses to do so and the courts uphold it by throwing out the suits.

Not perfectly but hopefully in a way that would have avoided my daughters being left alone because of some loser punk pushing my buttons.

“McKay’s cruiser videotaped the incident. The tape shows McKay, who had not drawn his gun, being shot by Kenney, according to Attorney General Kelly Ayotte. McKay, a 12-year veteran of the Franconia Police Department...”

It is hard to figure out how a cruiser dash-cam captured what happened BEHIND the cruiser though...don’t you think? According to assistant attorney general the cruiser chased and overtook Liko Kenneys car then was pulled in front of the chased vehicle, blocking it in...do some research on this story it gets even more bizarre.

“And I really don’t see who the murderer’s cousins might be matters”

I agree, I guess its like the guilt-by-association thing, but Bode Miller also had run-ins with Cpl. McKay...just to try to be difficult....the Dukes Of Hazard/Franconia NH.

“Yeah but it is probably the most we can get from the government though. Don’t all shootings get investigated? Most seem to take awhile. The fast response is telling, IMO.”

Yes the cruiser dash cam allegedly videotaped this as it occured behind the cruiser and this “official ruling” came out before either Mckay or Kenney were even brought in for autopsy....yes, it is strange....but I cannot do anything but commend Mr. Floyds actions, even with all of his police run-ins he seems to have done the right thing here, rare in this day and age to see such guts.

From NH AG’s statement May 12th, 2007...

“...Cpl. McKay’s cruiser video confirmed that Kenney fired numerous shots at Cpl. McKay.”

source: http://www.wmur.com/print/13309215/detail.html

But i wonder how a dash-cam captured what was going on behind the cruiser...

The AG’s office May 13th, 2007

“...Conte said he did not know how fast McKay was driving when he overtook the Toyota about 1 1/2 miles later on Route 116. Strelzin said McKay, who radioed in the pursuit and asked for backup, pulled his cruiser ahead of Kenney’s car, forcing him to stop.”

Something is not adding up...

The first time Liko Kenney and Cpl. Bruce McKay met on a January night four years ago was not unlike their final, and fatal, encounter Friday night.

A prosecutor’s account shows a 2003 encounter between McKay and Kenney turned violent when Kenney, yelling and resisting arrest, grabbed the officer’s groin and squeezed.

Liko Kenney’s aunt feared for her safety and got a restraining order against her nephew in 2003.

Yes, I am familiar with Liko Kenney, he did have a few marbles missing...still doesn’t explain the discrepancies in the AG offices Investigation statements though. How did a dash cam videotape what was happening behind the cruiser?

Franconia Residents Struggle To Understand Shootings

Franconia residents said Monday that they were still trying to make sense of the Friday night shooting of a police officer and the man accused of shooting him.

“I think everybody is just dumbfounded and devastated and just sort of in a state of shock.”

Residents said that the shootings have left the community torn.
