We are still awaiting further details, but PWInsider.com is extremely saddened to report that former WWE and WCW World champion Chris Benoit and his wife, former WCW and ECW personality Nancy "Woman" Benoit were both found dead today in Atlanta, Georgia. Obviously this will be a huge developing story in the days to come but at this point, we'd like to express our deepest condolences to the Benoits' family, friends, and fans at this time.
A meeting is currently ongoing at WWE TV and it is expected that tonight's three hour Raw will now be dedicated to Benoit's memory.
6:09 Update: WWE.com issued the following statement this afternoon:
"WWE is sad to report that Chris Benoit and his family have been found dead in their home. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Tonight's Raw will be a tribute to Chris and his family."
I lost it when I told my wife about it and she doesn’t care about wrestling.

I have seen a number of tribute shows to wrestlers that have passed. They do not spin. What they do is celebrate the wrestlers career, especially if the wrestler was generally liked.
Second, quit responding to rumors. Like any other big news story, the facts will be known days, or weeks later. NOT minutes or hours later.
Murder/suicide angle? Sounds like you are implying a storyline.
Chris Benoit was a decent human being. Let's wait until the real facts are known, not the rumors and innuendo that the MSM reports every time something like this happens.
Yes. They totally scrapped that and dedicated all three hours to Chris Benoit. Classic matches of his interspersed with comments from fellow wrestlers. IMO very well done.

What exactly is happening (I don’t currently have cable, so my WWE viewing is limited to Smackdown).
I realized when I used the term “angle” it would be misinterperted ...
and Yes I am speculating on the possiblity of a M/S ... I was as soon a I started putting 2+2 together (before the MSM reported that the deaths were being investigated as M/S) ... Benoit calling off for 2 shows (one where he was set for a strap) w/ the reason being that wife and kids were sick .... then all 3 are found dead ... and now MSM (not wrestling sources) reports that it is being investigated as M/S ...
I admired Chris as a wrestler and all reports were that he was a great guy ... but I think the speculation is fair now. ...

I’d read elsewhere that it’s a possible murder-suicide. Are you hearing anything about that?

I’d met Mr. Benoit on more than one occasion back when I was an arena security guard. He was probably one of the most humble and gentlemanly entertainers I’ve ever met in any genre, and I’ve met quite a few.
Rest in Peace, Chris, Nancy, and Daniel. This is a very sad day.
At the beginning of each hour, it’s Vince standing in the middle of the ring in a completely empty arena telling that Chris, his wife, and their son Daniel were found dead in their home this afternoon and that tonight’s show would be a tribute to his life and career. Many classic matches from ECW and WWE and a ‘92 match from New Japan Wrestling. Also comments from many different wrestlers on what Chris Benoit meant to them. Not sure what they’ll do for ECW and Smackdown yet in way of tribute. (Kinda surprised we haven’t seen the traditional ‘whole show roster on the stage with bell tolling 10 times’ tribute yet)

The WWE has cancelled the RAW show in Corpus Christi TX tonight and they are running a 3 hour Tribute to Benoit.

You could at least wait 24 hours out of respect for the family. But you did not. Says a lot about you.

Just got word from Fayette Co. authorities that this, indeed, is a double murder-suicide. They are saying that Benoit may have killed his wife and son as early as over the weekend, then killed himself today.
