It seems the only time Snape really goes crazy is when its suggested in any way that he’s a coward. (How significant is this?)

IMHO, very significant.

...and don’t think so hard.

That's actually good advice in general! LOL

When we got home my husband was asking me all sorts of questions about why different things happened. That's when I realized I didn't remember Umbridge saying she was the one who sent the dementors. Does anyone remember movie Umbridge revealing that little bit of info? If she did my husband and I completely missed it.

We're going to go again in a couple of weeks and see it on the Imax. Kreecher totally creeped me out. I don't know what it was, but he was just so icky. I guess I pictured him to look more like an old version of Dobby. He had a very menacing quality about him.

Great minds! That thought just occured to me (in the shower, which is where I do my best thinking.) I don't recall her mentioning it.

Also, one of the girls used "levicorpus" on one of the death eaters at the ministry. That curse isn't mentioned until book 6 when Harry discovers it, so how did she know it...???

Now that you mention it, no she didn't.

I think that’s the one James uses on Snape, but you are right- Harry doesn’t try it out until he uses it on Ron in HPB. I remember Lupin or Sirius saying that it was the “fashionable” charm to use when they were in school.

The other thing I thought was odd was that Umbridge blasts through the door of the room of requirement. How are they going to rectify that with Harry trying to get inside it in HBP? People who aren’t familiar with the books will probably just think, “Why doesn’t he just blast through like Umbridge did?”

The Room of Requirement is different for every user’s need.

Harry asked for a room to train and practice DADA. (Although what Neville asked for in the movie is unclear.)

Malfoy asked for a room where he wouldn’t be disturbed.

That’s true. Plus, Harry didn’t know what Malfoy was using it for, so he didn’t know what to focus on to get it to open up. At least that is what I am going to go with. ;-)

I did really like the DA scenes. And I don’t think I could love Neville more. I loved when he yelled at Bellatrix, “Better, now that they’re about to be avenged!” I’m really, really hoping that we see much more Neville Deathly Hallows. He’s my favorite character.

The other thing I thought was odd was that Umbridge blasts through the door of the room of requirement. ..........

If you know the purpose of the room, you can enter. Remember Cho’s friend told them the purpose of the room, so she was able to come in. Of course, like you pointed out though if the audience didn’t read the book, then they won’t know this info and will be confused.

I was a little puzzled why Cho was the sneak. I know it was easier then introducing a new character and it explains why Harry doesn’t want to hang with Cho anymore, but the way it happens they sort of make us have a little sympathy for her. Umbridge threatened her moms job and apparently used the veritaserum (sp?) on her to get her to talk.

Saw it Friday! They did a great job casting Umbridge. Story flowed very well, but if you haven’t read the books it would be a tough one.

I figured Durmstrang was in Siberia due to the “heavy fur coats” that were mentioned.

I’m glad they at least said something about the truth potion because even my son didn’t like the fact they cast Cho as the “bad girl”.

She was great! And by great I mean horrible and I wanted to slap her. She reminded me of the mother in-law from hell.

Durm and strang is a spoonerism of Sturm und Drang

The conventional translation of Sturm und Drang is "Storm and Stress"; a more literal translation, however, might be storm and urge, storm and longing, or storm and impulse.

It is the name of a movement in German literature and music in which individual subjectivity and, in particular, extremes of emotion were given free expression in response to the confines of rationalism imposed by the Enlightenment.

Therefore Drumstrang is doubtless in Germany or at least a Germanic country...
