This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
It’s easier to keep up over there if you set your user profile to subscribe to any thread you post to. That and checking the New Posts page every so often.
MtMollie definitely tells some interesting stories. If she’s actually experienced all that she writes about then she’s definitely led an unusual life. At the very least, she’s a gifted writer.
She’s an interesting writer, but it’s taking me awhile to get her. If you read just one post, it doesn’t make sense. It’s only over the whole forum reading all her posts that the big picture makes sense.... it’s sortof a running stream of consciousness. :)
And I've got a question about that... Are you the ONLY moderator on Baywind? Do you have to read EVERY post that comes across or what? If you do, then no wonder you're busier than a one legged man at a butt-kicking contest!
Heh... So far it’s just me, and hubby.
We did recently give some power to cloedoll, one of the kids that knows how to do a lot of stuff with pictures and avatars and such, to upload and save avatars and signatures for people who were having trouble. That will help a lot with the volume of questions we need to respond to.
But no, I don’t have to read every post, but I’ve been reluctant to leave it, like as soon as I do, some troll will show up and make a mess of things. But I need to get away and get chores done sometimes too! :)
Really, you’ve had trolls over there already?! What IS it with people like that?
No - we haven’t, I’m just afraid there will be!
But I’ve gotten away today, cleaned up and organized in the barn... Just about done. That feels good. It’s been a wreck.
Sopping in to say hello. Thought I’d post a link to what I’ve been doing.

Warning: lots of pictures.
Wow Becky, that looks like fun! I’m glad you’re getting to go. I’m also glad you posted the link to it over here because somehow I missed it over at Baywind. There’s so many different threads being posted over there that it’s easy to miss a lot of stuff unless you just sit there and monitor it all the time. I wish there was a way to ping people to a thread there like you can here.
Hey yall. What’s up? Enjoyed the pics.
It was a beautiful day Sunday and Amy, Alison and I went for a ride in the back woods. I rode Ziggy and she was great. She is such a smooth rider, that it didnt bother my back at all.
A lady is very interested in her and is going to take her for a vet check, than will buy her. They want a horse that Alison can show next year. Too bad, because Ziggy would be a good trail horse for me.
My friend Judy is at the Appaloosa World Show in Texas for the next two weeks. Hopefully, her weanling filly does great!
Well, if you want her, you don’t have to sell her! Finding another one you like is sometimes a challenge!
No riding here this weekend, we’ll probably be doing the sad task of bringing all our gear from the trailer into the house for winter.
Bay has a checkup on Friday. Mostly normal, needs his teeth done, though he does have some symptoms I want to ask about. For starters, his bowels are a little loose. Not the whole ‘movement’, but a squirt of near water at the beginning or the end, followed by fairly normal looking apples. What’s up with that? He was making a mess of his tail, and I braided the top of it to keep it cleaner but I don’t know what’s causing that.
Were supposed to do our Natchez Trace ride this past Saturday but things just didn’t work out for a lot of people who wanted to go, so we postponed it until this coming Saturday, IF the weather permits, and that a big if right now. We may end up postponing it ANOTHER week. :o(
HaveFaith and I did go riding on Sunday but it was just at one of the nearby horse camps for about 4 hours. She rode her SSH mare, Daisy, and I rode my 2yr old filly, Whirl. It was gorgeous weather and we had a great ride but I didn’t take any pictures.
The girl who’s interested in Goose has finally sold the horses she needed to sell before her Hubby would let her buy Goose, so she MAY be coming down to see him and give him a trial ride at the Rails to Trails on Sunday. So we’ll see how that turns out.
Has the pasture put back out recently? If it has, it might just be the higher moisture content of the grass. But that’s just a guess.
Well, water consumption may (have been) part of it. Somebody was drinking an inordinate amount of water for about a week. Consumption went from filling the buckets once a day to filling them twice a day and topping it off again at night.
I can’t say for sure who was doing it, but I saw Bay standing there a lot, and doing some odd behaviors, like swishing his mouth in it. It’s actually what prompted me to think it might be his teeth... either they need done, or he’s got a loose one (sigh if he’s starting to lose teeth) that hurts and the water made it feel better.
So yeah, it’s during that period of crazy consumption that he was watery too. Of course, the water consumption also had me worrying about something like Cushings.
So I made the appointment. Now the water consumption has gone back to normal, buckets only down about half way in the morning or evening when I fill them.
And he’s gawgeous to look at! My goodness. And what a cute little barn you’ve got in the background. :)
I AM SO HAPPY YOU GOT TO RIDE AGAIN!!!!
Yes, you should keep her if she is comfortable for you and you are not sore. We have really been thru it trying to find one that doesn’t hurt Hal with his history (4 back surgeries) and it’s not worth giving up one to try to find another. They are few and far between. If I wanted another one I would find it FIRST, before I got rid of Ziggy.
That’s (sadly) the run in shed converted to a chicken coop.
Thanks. I couldn’t believe he posed like that.
Frog, good luck in selling Goose. You will need to start breeding again! Your herd is shrinking.
I cleaned and winterized my trailer yesterday. It was a pretty nice day with temps in the high 50's. Last week, I put down mulch in the front, but the grass seed doesnt look like it it sprouting much.
