Archeology Magazine speculated that the next fifty years will be a golden age of archeology. Discoveries like this, partially from aerial photos, undersea explorations, and other application of technology is the analysis of sites cause me to agree. The major threats to this golden age are looters, ethnic opposition (the ROP in particular) and political considerations guiding the conclusions.

Regarding looters, sites discovered from space aren’t likely to be A) found by looters or B) filled with anything of interest to looters. A site this size of this one will have been picked clean of anything of value (other than scholarly value) ages ago, not long before its existence was forgotten by the locals.
