I love Vista, sort of. It’s a nice user interface, and it has a really cool feature that lets you start typing stuff and it finds it in the start menu, which is enormously helpful. HOWEVER, the fact that several of my apps totally stopped working just because I moved to Vista really really pisses me off.
Similar situation here. I bought my wife a new laptop for her home-based business. Thought I was doing a great thing only to find out that there are NO drivers for my HP AIO printer. And none planned. HP’s answer? Let me show you to a new printer, sir. UHG!
You are not alone. I too, love the search feature on the start bar and in the explorer windows. Although I do believe the benchmark tests showed XP faster, I haven’t noticed a performance issue with my Vista notebook. I had one app that wouldn’t work, but I figured out how some hacks and was able to get it running again.
I can’t stand the UAC (User Account Control) though. Nothing like being asked for permission every time you try to accomplish something. I turn off UAC immmediately whenever I receive a Vista machine.
LOL! Me too! I give it a great big ~eh~ :D
Much ado about nothing as far as I can see... But I will tell you, I downgraded my laptop back to XP, just to see, and boy, does that thing smoke! An immense difference, and that is comparing the two with Aero turned off too!
Sadly, it was only temporary- I had to blow it back to Vista so I can learn to hack the bloody thing. Unfortunate, though it be, I would betcha MS is NOT gonna back off of Vista... They never do...
I’ve had similar experiences. I do like the operations of Vista and its appearance. But.....it’s slower on several applications. you know what
I
mean?
