Dear FRiends
It really pains me to see some of those vicious anti-Mormons attacks we see on Free Republic disguised under the freedom of speech. Attacking people based on their Mormon faith is really disgusting and it is an insult to this great forum. People who do not like Governor Mitt Romney based on his positions are free to express their opinion as such, but people who attack him because he is a Mormom should be ashamed of themselves and must not be allowed to do so.
I greatly hope that Free Republic members and moderators will get together and help in stopping this anti-Mormon vitriol, this great Free Republic must not be tainted by these shameless acts.
Only Islam has been attacked more stringently here on FR, and it wasn't Mormon bishops steering those planes into the WTC and the Pentagon on 9/11. As an atheist, I don't have a dog in this fight, but I do know that most LDS people vote for the kinds of people FReepers vote for, and they are allies in the cause of keeping this country out of the hands of the socialist, race-baiting, greedy liberal Clymers in our midst.
You making rules now?
I can't have an opinion about Mormonism?
It can be very upsetting for me. Some posters seem to overflow with hate for certain candidates. It was very bad a few months back when some had very long anti-Morman essays that they would cut and paste savaging all mormans.
I have a brother that is a Mormon, and I love and respect him deeply, however, to disallow people their opinion on something as important as religion is not the right way to go....
Most of the dialog I have seen has been to define (in the view of the poster) what Mormonism was all about. It doesn’t matter if they are wrong or right, it’s a legitimate topic. If you don’t feel they are being accurate, then debate them on that.
Are we going to cut out all discussions about the ROP as well?
Did I miss something! I have been coming to read free republic for the last 12 years and I have yet to see anyone attack a mormon. Matter of fact, I only see free speech used as the founders intended it to be used on free republic. Now if I wanted to attack a mormon how would I be able to express my outrage at say someone like harry reid
I agree 100 percent with your plea for tolerance.
Are you equivating Mormonism to Islam? Give me a break.
1. I do not support MR because of his political positions not because he is LDS.
2. Grow up and stop being a cry baby.
OR...
Is there still room for civil interchange?
Thank you very much Brad.
It’s possible to disagree wtih someone without being disagreeable.
You get extra cool points if you know who said that.
You done readed one post... Well Hallelujah!!!
I agree with you on this one.
You know exactly what I mean and I am sure you have some of the super nasty and disgusting anti-Mormons stuff posted here and that has nothing to do with religion differences.
Of course they are.
Eventually it is not very nice to point out the differences between Christianity and LDS.
I’m fine with a Mormon. I’m not fine with an atheist (and no, attending photo-ops in a church doesn’t negate one’s atheism). I’m not OK with a Muslim right now.
This battle over religion does seem to settle over those two. I don’t like either of them either for a lot of reasons that have nothing to do with religion. I’ve seen too many guys like Huckabee, though, who use religion for business or political advantage. I live in the Bible-Belt, bt I’m sure folks in Utah may have had the same kind of experiences with Mormons.
Can we dislike Episcopalians? They seem so snotty to me.
