Nice, Kitty Mittens. It’s fun to watch the birds being so busy these days. We have the Black Phoebe here... it’s really cute:)

Checked it out on Snoopes and it is true http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/charity/animalrescue.asp

Hi, all you animal lovers.

This is pretty simple.. Please tell
ten (or more) friends to tell ten today! The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on ‘feed an animal in need’ for free. It’s in a purple box in the middle of the page.

(It says Click Here To Give) This will not cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising.

Here’s the web site! Pass it along to people you know

I finally caught up on the thread, having come in late from a long day, and enjoyed all the wonderful pics, poems, the great drawings by Prissy Missy and lovely bird pics.

It looks like I'm the last one here, so will turn out the lights and see all tomorrow.

Good Night, and

Thanks! Not my pic—I just snagged the first one I saw off google! I’m still tickled that I actually followed your instructions enough to do it! LOL

It’a kind of like playing a game for the first time—if you have to read the directions, it doesn’t make much sense. If you some in on someone who already knows how to play and they show you, you pick it up a lot quicker!

Y’all have a great day!

Hi PrissyMissy,

I like your drawings, especially the hummingbird, and finally I found a suitable riddle for you:

Question: Why do hummingbirds hum?

Answer: Because they don't know the words.

The Oyster Man
That the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. —2 Corinthians 4:7

In the days of John Wesley, lay preachers with limited education would sometimes conduct the church services. One man used Luke 19:21 as his text: "Lord, I feared Thee, because Thou art an austere man" (KJV). Not knowing the word austere, he thought the text spoke of "an oyster man."

He explained how a diver must grope in dark, freezing water to retrieve oysters. In his attempt, he cuts his hands on the sharp edges of the shells. After he obtains an oyster, he rises to the surface, clutching it "in his torn and bleeding hands." The preacher added, "Christ descended from the glory of heaven into . . . sinful human society, in order to retrieve humans and bring them back up with Him to the glory of heaven. His torn and bleeding hands are a sign of the value He has placed on the object of His quest."

Afterward, 12 men received Christ. Later that night someone came to Wesley to complain about unschooled preachers who were too ignorant even to know the meaning of the texts they were preaching on. The Oxford-educated Wesley simply said, "Never mind. The Lord got a dozen oysters tonight."

Our best may not always measure up to the standards of others. But God takes our inadequacies and humble efforts and uses them for His glory.

The Master can use what you have to offer,
Though you may consider it small;
His work here on earth is done through His children,
So give Him your best, give your all. —Hess

Do what you can where you are with what you have.

That is a really good drawing by Marissa! Her hummingbird was quite good! I love the little one’s artwork and they are so proud of it, aren’t they? I know you all are sick of hearing it but I am on my way outside again.

Made my hummingbird food this morning and have three loaves of sour dough bread rising...will be ready to bake at 1:00 pm. Made it last night. I used to do that all the time and I am just now starting to do it again. May not continue long but it smells so good baking and I will be giving lots away!

I will be checking in this afternoon....all of ya’ll have a wonderful day!!

Definitely don’t think I could deal with being on a plane for 12 hours—not even to see Aus.—longer for me—I’m on the east coast!

Right, you'd have to add on five hours plus lay-over time. That's a lot of traveling time to get somewhere!

I did talk to people who had been traveling 18 to 20 hours. I guess 12 hours actually wasn't too bad and I'd do it again to get to go back.

Re: your phantom mockingbird......LOL!

I dearly love our mockingbirds. Their song is a gift. They do start up early in the morning though!

Do you work at a garden nursery?

Good night and good morning, dita.

It's freezing up here! Well, not literaly, but there is an icy wind blowing. I hope my momma bird has been able to keep her eggs warm all night. The wind has been whipping around the Oleander too. I am so afraid I am going to go out and find her nest on the ground. These are first time parents, I do hope they have built a secure nest and know what they are doing.

Just Poppin’ In

Have you ever thought you’d like to be,
A tiny bubble in the sea?
Effervescing up you go,
Bouncing around, but in the flow.

Pop to tickle someone’s nose,
That’s the way the party goes!
Life’s not easy if you’re shy,
Hawaiian men will come to pry!

Join companions, dos-i-do,
This is like a picture show!
I hope this fun will never stop,
And no one ever tells my Pop!

WOW ... absolutely beautiful, Lori.

I’m disappointed ..... the day we took a drive to see the wildflowers was a dud. We had a nice time but saw very few of California’s wildflowers.

I think we should have taken a trip to Las Vegas. ;^ )
I’m sure we would have seen lots of wildflowers. (And lost lots.)

Thanks for sharing that beautiful picture.
