Spike Lee jabs back at Clint Eastwood

Sounds like it would make a great movie, if it was made as a movie about black men, not black victims.

Spike Lee's inability to get white audiences to watch his movies is based on his inability to tell a story of honorable, brave, black males, who know the right things to do, and do them.

They're not victims, and they strive and overcome obstacles. (Also, they're not Eddie Murphy(sp?), fast talking those dumb white guys. The characters I am envisioning are characters movie viewers could learn about, appreciate their adversaties, and admire).

The issues of not being recognized for the MOH, could easily be told through the focus of the white officer who spent years fighting for it because it was the right thing to do.

Flashbacks to tell the story, with some actors who can portray honorable black fighting men, sounds like the basis of a great war movie. And if the main characters were properly portrayed as black men of honor and value, not victims, they would be good role models for young black men, and easily admirable men for non-blacks.

Hope such a movie is made.

It’s rare that you see black people in a western. Yet Eastwood’s Unforgiven had Morgan Freeman in a huge role. Lee always goes out of his way to show his class.

After the 78-year-old Hollywood legend lobed a Dirty Harry-esque one-liner at the pint-sized director - telling him to "shut his face" over criticisms that no African-Americans appeared in Eastwood's drama "Flags of Our Fathers" - Lee has offered up a response. "First of all, the man is not my father and we're not on a plantation," Lee told ABCNEWS.com.
