A poem from the past (updated):
Day of Fright
As we enter into the night
With a continual diminishing of light
We contemplate the news that we received today
That our Soaring Feather has gone away
For such a loss of a guiding hand
To all the poets in the Lair that form a tiny band
We liken it to that of a boat that has no steering
In a poetry sea with thunderous waves careening
We wish as lost souls that our Feather would not depart
For she has a special place in our heart
As for me, I am being selfish
For I give her a “Good Luck” wish

Why did she leave?
Why didn’t she tell anyone she was leaving?
Was she afraid we’d talk her out of it?
What the hell happened?

Time it does pass and things change, such is the way
we are first a part of each other and then one day apart
let us open the heart and hold onto that memory’s play
and keep it alive somewhere within a welcoming heart
As things leave, so can they come back if the place is set and a welcoming seat left by the fireside of our friendship.

I slept late and have greeted the new neighborhood pet..a wild turkey..I have given him handouts on the patio since Saturday..thinking he was part of a flock that hangs out mostly at an assisted living home about a mile away. I met his owner(new neighbor) this morning..says he has had him for 2 years at a nearby residence. The tom comes right up to me and I wondered why he was so tame.
I am a sucker and soft touch for critters.

I understand being a soft touch for critters. There is this cat that comes around looking for handouts every day. I make sure that when it comes up the stairs that it gets food and water. Of course Calli is jealous and wants to get at it. Fortunately, I have been able to prevent her from getting out at it. Have to get ready and leave for work. Have a great day.
