More than 20 percent of adults are obese 30 pounds or more overweight in every state except Colorado.
Nine of the Top 10 fattest states are in the south. Mississippi leads the pack with an adult obesity rate of 31.7 percent, according to the report, which is a follow-up analysis of the annual Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Lucky you. I started going to the gym 3 times a week in January, ate more fruit and vegetables and whole grains, and less meat and processed grains, and started riding my bike to work 2-3 days a week last month. How much weight have I lost? Zero. And I'm supposedly 40 pounds overweight by BMI. You've probably gained muscle mass and lost fat, which evened itself out in terms of weight.

EVERYONE PANIC! "study" by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and one of its creatures, Trust for America's Health.
The Tobacco Taliban moves on to new conquests, providing jobs for the otherwise unemployables in Big Non-Profit and giving RWJ Foundation a nice bump in weight-loss product sales, while the sheep self-flagellate.

biking is the answer, but you have to put in a lot of hours. I was too fat to run very far, but biking you can do for hours with a little training, and the weight starts to drip off. Its the time that’s the key, I found. Many hours on the bike.

And furthermore:
Expert panels constantly expand what constitutes disease: thresholds for diagnosing diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis and obesity have all fallen in the last few years. The criterion for normal cholesterol has dropped multiple times. With these changes, disease can now be diagnosed in more than half the population.

You may weigh the same but are your clothes as tight? You probably have lost fat and replaced it with more dense muscle...which is always good.

Did anybody see the “special report” during the Olympics that Chinese kids are becoming more and more obese “thanks to a growing number of American fast food restaurants”.
Long story short, it’s America’s fault that China is growing fatter.
Damn, NBC, can’t you keep the bias out of a sporting event.

You probably have lost fat and replaced it with more dense muscle...which is always good.Well, I still have my love handles (maybe smaller, but it's hard to tell. My thighs are definitely bigger and bulkier (thank you biking), so my pants actually fit tighter. I haven't noticed much else.
I also got one of those body fat measurement scales, but it's all over the place (+/- 7% within a day) with its readings.

Our life expectancy keeps going up, so apparently it isn’t a problem.
