Premiers Thur. Sept. 25 @ 8PM ET/PT
18 new contestants will compete for the $1 million prize in the jungles of the equatorial African nation of Gabon.
Who will be the sole Survivor?
I heard there’s a new rule that every physical aspect of a challenge has to be “balanced” with a puzzle. (insert eyeroll here) Physical challenges are fine for tribe vs. tribe, as each tribe will have strong and weak players, so everything will be fair. As for individual challenges, they could alternate between physical and mental challenges instead of making every challenge a combination obstacle course/puzzle solver. I liked a lot of the purely mental challenges - the human chess in the first season that Rudy won, the Battleship game from Fiji, the tower building from this season, etc. I also like the quiz challenges because we can play along at home and see how many questions we get right. It’s like combining Jeopardy with Survivor.
I haven't been following the show or this thread as closely as I could have. The deal between Ken and Bob. Wasn't the deal that if Bob won immunity and it looked like Ken was on the block, he'd give him the immunity idol? And didn't all that change because Bob found out that Ken was going to get Bob to give him the idol SO THEY COULD VOTE BOB OUT???
I've been trying to make sense out of his whining about Bob breaking his deal.
Oh... and what's up with Matty squandering a trust fund??
Congrats to Bob!! I was hoping he'd win. Sugar doesn't impress me as much as she does many of you, but like I said, I didn't watch that closely.
No sense to make about it. Bob said he’d give immunity to Ken, Ken decided to stab Bob in the back and vote him out, so Bob very rationally decided to keep immunity. Ken’s just a whiner and a sore loser.
Matty inherited a very large trust fund and ended up partying it all away. It was in his bio at the SeeBS website, but they didn’t talk about it at the reunion.
I gotta say that Matty grew on me. I'm sure his weeping proposal had alot to do with that. I'm not surprised he partied away a trust fund! lol An expensive life lesson, I'm sure.
Well, he won about $70,000 for a fourth-place prize. I think he’ll be more careful about spending it than he was with his trust fund.
Corinne was trying to top Sue Hawk’s “...if you were dying of thirst in the desert I would not give you any water” (I think that’s how it went). Hawk’s hateful comments are still the best, IMHO. I’m so glad Bob won. He was my favorite from day one.
LOL! Not so much...though I might enjoy watching you rough someone else up. Kumite might be fun, though...if you didn’t take it too serious.
You ever see the original Conan? Sandall Bergman, I think her name was.
Really?! Fourth gets $70,000?
I know how to differentiate between serious (in a tournament) and non-serious (with a date).
:-)
Funniest moment of the show: Randy pulling a Crystal and yelling, “All three of you can kiss my ass!” while casting his vote. And the jury and even Jeff Probst laughing.
Sigh....a distinction I’ll never get to experience. Nice thought, though.
LOL! I forgot all about that! That was hilarious.
Just heard on CBS Radio news that customs impounded a bunch of stuff the Survivor Gabon Crew was trying to sneak back into the country.
Must have happened a while ago, wonder why it’s hitting the air now?
I believe Matty’s grandfather was in Shawshank Redemption - the old guy who worked in the library and couldn’t handle being released from prison.
And his grandmother was Mrs. Roper from Three’s Company.
I also read that he’d never seen the show - he was recruited in a grocery store. Bob and Corinne were also recruited.
Care to add me to your ping list for the next go-around?
Sometimes I watch survivor, sometimes I don’t. I’m not staying home to watch it if the opportunity to go out is there.
I still hate corrinne, and have yet to see anyone as mean and nasty as her. She’s no better than Sugar, so what if she has a degree. She’s a saleperson, no better or worse than a pinup model. Who cares. Mean, nasty skank.
LOL! Don’t hold back. Tell us how you really feel.
:)
I haven’t watched a Survivor Series since around the Johnny Fairplay episode but I started watching this one and it was pretty good. Anybody want to buy an Immunity Idol? Bwahaha!
These days, most of the contestants are recruited. Cook Islands (season 13) had 17 out of 20 contestants recruited, and Fiji (season 14) had 18 out of 19 recruited. It really lowers the quality of the show when you have all these players who not only don’t know the game, but also often play to get as much screen time as possible, as opposed to playing to win.
/rant over
I’m surprised that Bob was recruited, though. He doesn’t seem that type.
I knew there was a lot of recruiting going on - I just hadn’t realized it was that many people for each season. Cook Islands doesn’t surprise me - wasn’t that the one with the tribes based on race?
I find it hard to believe that with all of the thousands of entries they get each year, they have to go out recruiting. I’d rather have real people than wannabe actors. They have the same problem on Amazing Race. Too many recuited Mactors (model/actor)
