Wow, now the market can predict the course of a hurricane, what next?

Each succeeding update of the major models has for 2 days now had Ike tracking well further west that the previous update. Making landfall around Corpus Christi or a bit south of there will be the ultimate non-event for energy traders.

Unless OPEC do something sufficiently stupid, look for energy prices to weaken over the next 10 days or so.

OPEC are all that stupid. Even they realise that cutting production doesn't cure demand destruction.

Just keep it away from the stretch between Freeport and Galveston. Too bad it veered away from the earlier forecast track through the King Ranch.

I hope these forecasters are better than the ones here in New England, I can't tell you how many times I shoveled 10 inches of flurries.

Bad day for windmill makers

That is probably why the ME producers are ramping up production, including new exploration. When prices are reasonable there is no rebellion by the American public and less demand for alternatives by the politicians.

Can someone please explain why the gas stations raised the price almost 30 cents a gallon today????? It’s almost as if it was a planned raise because of the hurricane.

that’s strange — not seeing anything unusual here on the left coast, but we’re further away from the excitement too

Strangely enough here in NW Indiana we jumped from $3.76/gal to $4.09/gal. There's a lot of profit taking on the retail level now.
