Vanity: What new name or title can be given to the "Fairness Doctrine"?
(SELF) Definition of the Fairness Doctrine ^ | 10-24-08 | SilvieWaldorfMD

Posted on 10/24/2008 8:06:37 AM PDT by SilvieWaldorfMD

The "FAIRNESS DOCTRINE" is anything but fair. It seeks to shut down free speech and muzzle conservative-oriented broadcasting.

What name would you give the "FAIRNESS DOCTRINE" if you were to re-name it?

In other words, what title or name should legislators give this piece of legislation?

Serious replies only (although jokes and funny names are also welcome!)

I just want to get a "feel" for what names or titles we can re-name this monster of a legislation.

The average person does not know that the "Fairness Doctrine" is -- and when they see the words "fair", they think that it's okay, which it's not.

"The Censorship Doctrine"

Mark Levin coined it last night.

They should just call it, “Let’s UN-Ratify the First Amendment” or something straight to the point.

The name “Fairness Doctrine” is perfect in its Orwellianism.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I’d call it the Orwell Doctrine.

I like the Orwell Document. Although the HUSH RUSH Bill is appropo. They can’t beat him on merit, so they have to take him off the air.

The “fairness doctrine” is specifically targeted towards talk radio... it exempts all other forms of media.
There is no question that it would not be an issue if it were not for Rush Limbaugh.

Many good suggestions except..
Fascist has too many possible definitions
Hush Rush - too many people affected don't really like rush

CENSORSHIP is one term everyone understands, and even the most rabid liberal moonbat would be violently against.

Mark Levin calls it the Censorship Doctrine.

I emailed Rush, Sean and Mark suggesting that we call the present law (the way things are today) the FREEDOM DOCTRINE and ask our representatives why the Democrats want to repeal it.

People don’t seem to understand that in order to achieve some kind of “fairness” (as defined by the government, by the way) a society has to give up a great deal of freedom. I don’t know why it doesn’t register - Cuba, a test case if there ever was one, is only 90 miles away.
