Is it too early to call Favre trade "huge success" for Gangreen, failure for Cheeseheads?

Is it too early to call Mike McCarthy an idiot for trading Favre? They just defeated the (formerly) undefeated Titans.

Sorry, but I’m not sold on Rodgers yet. Seems the mancrush is yours. 5-5 at this point in a weak division? Favre would’ve taken Cheese a lot farther and you know it. They would be 9-2 now if Favre were there.

I’m a Tampa Bay fan, I don’t have a stake in Favre succeeding or failing, though being a Marino fan, I’ve always had a bittersweet view of Favre.

My opinion - Yes.

As much as I think Favre is one of, if not the greatest quarterback ever, not to mention how I loved seeing him lead my Packers and just watching him play, a call had to be made for the sake of the team and it was.

Rodgers has done an excellent job, particularly considering just how little playing time a Favre backup gets...

While I wish Favre was still throwing touchdowns for GB, I am glad the Packers are looking toward the future. And I also wish Favre the best - he'll always be a Packer in my mind...

Is Aaron Rodgers stinking it up for the Packers? Nope. Did Green Bay spend a first round pick for Rodgers, and then a second round pick this year for his backup because Favre said he was retired? Yup.

By no objective measure could you say that the Packers would have a better record with Favre around. The Jets got what they needed, and the Packers get to spend Favre’s salary on their new QB and supporting players.

Sounds like a win-win to me.

I am still mad at the way that Jones dumped Tom Landry. I haven’t watched Pro ball since.

Please, if there is God, let it be a Jet-Packer Superbowl.

That - would be awsome!

Plus - I'd bet the changes to the currently planned commercials would result in the ad agencies leading us straight out of the economic downturn...

So many ways to have fun with the irony that I might even think about buying a spot...

I disagree. You platy the best QB IMHO if you have him, period. Rodgers is close to cracking an otherwise solid team. 5-5 is a failure compared to last season’s accomplishments at this point. The Vikings and the Bears are schizophrenic this year, and Cheese should’ve assumed control. With Favre, they would have.

There’s something not right about Rodgers WITH GB. Is he potentially great? Yes. But he doesn’t quite fit the GB puzzle, at least not yet. Time will tell, but he’s not looking good yet IMO.

I think he can, though it will take a season or two for it to "look" as smooth as in the past. Take a look at Favre's first couple seasons and check expectations against that.

NFC North is a weak division? That one’s new to me. The only team with a losing record in that division is Detroit. Minnesota just won, Chicago just won, and Green Bay plays tomorrow night. The NFC West is a weak division.

Enough with the Favre praise. It’s bad enough ESPN can’t get off his nuts.

Maybe. I’m not disputing that, I’m not automatically sold on Rodgers.

As an example, let’s go back to Rich Gannon. He had mad scrambling skills, but it wasn’t until Chucky molded him after Gannon experienced 12 years of stubborness. Gannon was never liked by the linemen that blocked for him.

Rodgers can’t take 12 years to develop and mature. Gannon’s leadership skills were mediocre at best, and Rodgers seems to act a bit like Gannon did IMO.

In other words, it’s not his physical skills that I see a problem with, it’s his social skills.

A crappy Detroit team makes Vikes/Bears 6-5. If Detroit wasn’t so lame, the Vikes/Bears would be 5-6.

The Favre “praise” is warranted (I despise ESPN too). I know Favre gets LOTS of nauseating praise from the MSM, but his staying power is undeniable. What is it now, heading into 18 seasons? That’s pure madness! Even my kid hero, Marino, couldn’t come close (injuries unfortunately). As a Marino fan, I’m simply stunned at Favre’s veracity to stick around this long at this level.

I’m a Bucs fan, so Favre not making it to the dance won’t phase me any, but getting there will be impressive, ESPN regardeless.

His retirement play went on for the last three seasons.

I still haven't recognized the Jets entry into the league, but Favre really has been playing great by any measure. He's a winner, and it's obviously contagious.

Strength of schedule doesn’t play into it.

And I disagree with you. The biggest difference between your team this year and last year’s team is that this year your defense sucks.

However, I’m glad that you’ve forgiven Lord Favre for throwing away a Super Bowl berth last year.

It’s a fluke the Packers were even in the game at the end. The Giants dominated them.

This years it’s the Meadowlands Super Bowl: Giants vs Jets.

Huh? Greg White? Derrick Brooks? Ronde Barber? Aqib Talib? Phil Buchanon? Keith Hovan? Javon Haye?

My team’s defense is quite fine. I’ll put them up against any defense in the NFL.
