LOL..Just want to make sure people are safe....

You know we would never hear anything like this from our friendly news media folks....

They are to worried about Global Warming and giving out Monopoly Money to speak about the Moon, the earth and how earthquakes might happen, so we can all be a bit more alert should a devastating earthquake hit our lands...

Hmm, my house on Vancouver Island better not fall down... 1/4 million down the crapper is not cool!

I was in Vancouver in ‘95, just got back from working 35 days in camp in Alberta... notices a lot of missing animal posters all over downtown...

next day they had a 2.0 earthquake...

I’ve never heard of any special trouble getting homeowner’s insurance on the island.

Buzzards in flocks were leaving the area along with black birds.

Is it possible they were headed to the Inauguration?

Spyware foretells geological future. Jeez, I’ve seen this before but it was from an old guy looking for $ to pay for his G-3.

"and the latitude of the sun is close to its yearly maximum"

Ummm, I think they mean "Minimum." The sun is approaching the tropic of Capricorn.

I think they mean perihelion rather than latitude, and that would make more sense. The perihelion of the Earth (its closest point to the Sun) occurs right around the Winter solstice.

"GREAT! Right in the middle of an arctic cold blast."

That's right. I was already concerned enough about that just after storms and power outages. A 7.3 in 1946 not far from where I live (Courtenay, Comox and Campbell River area) comes to mind, though it was in June.

This Friday’
December 12 - Full Moon

December 13, 14 - Geminids Meteor Shower. Considered by many to be the best meteor shower in the heavens, the Geminids are known for producing up to 60 multicolored meteors per hour at their peak. The peak of the shower is on the morning of December 13, although some meteors should be visible from December 6 - 19. Unfortunately, the full moon will block out all but the brightest meteors this year, even in dark locations. The radiant point for this shower will be in the constellation Gemini. Best viewing is usually to the east after midnight.

Some are saying:
It’s not the gravity that triggers an earthquake it’s when the moon moves out of the way of the solar wind and the impact thereof. So the 13th is the trigger point. so watch for the twin quakes on the 13th or so. We also have a solar wind increase coming in starting today the 11th that plus the new moon is the most probable trigger.

Somebody will have to draw a picture of that one for me. I am a mere degreed physicist and don’t understand these new technologies.

:)..
Well I am not sure if anyone has the trechnology in predicting earthquakes, so we have many opinions floating around....

But I am sure you as a Physicist must hear many yourself...

If anything the Moon should be pretty awesome tomorrow night...

It's the 16th so one day to go.

I actually hope the predictor is right. To be able to accurately predict earthquakes may save lives.
