I'm not a weatherpeeple, but the quick streak at 9:30 EST under CT, RI and MA is HUGE!
You inspired me to do some sky watching.... as I often do during the warmer times.
I lasted all of 45 seconds. Damn! It’s cold.
Do us a favor and have a handycam ready when you see such things. Geez!! :P
You mean HUGH!
I live in the SF Bay area - I happened to walk out on the porch about midnight a week ago, and saw the biggest meteor I've ever seen also, by far.
The white shooting star became a broad flare of red and green as it descended just over the treeline, apparently very low in the atmosphere.
Like you, I considered it might be fireworks, but I saw another ~5 streaks (higher up) moving in the same direction over the next few minutes.
Could you provide a more specific link?
lol
crap. can someone make that link work?
Are you logged in?
Very cool. Thank you very much. That’s fun!
Oh please that's so lame.
I saw it, a fast mover - East to West, over the coasts of Long Island. The reflectivity looks like a real object in motion.
My guesses are: meteor, meteorite, asteroid, hemeroid, UFO, weather balloon, military aircraft, mercury, swamp gas, bad gas, or the most likely; a missile lauch from the North West coast of long Island, probably headed to the Hamasholes.
In the time frame, it is 10 minutes after I saw what I did, also, the pattern doesn't look to convincing, HOWEVER, if the thing was coming at that angle, it would appear to be going East to South East from where I was standing, maybe. Also, due to time for air to condense and maybe reflect, the 10 minute lapse would explain vapor condensation around the path. I wish I could see the altitude of the streak from East to West to see if it started high and went low at the west end of that streak! :)
Quite interesting find, thanks!
This look familiar, Race?
“Noticed Orion in the Eastern sky, but didnt see any unusual lights.”
Are you Sirius?
Naw not on Monday.
I saw a shuttle one night and it scared me until I saw on the news 5 mins later the shuttle was landing in FL. I live in East TX and it was landing about 5 mins aftr I saw it passing over E. TX.
