Just below the article is indicated Oregon. I probably should have appended that to the title.

Oh, please don't misunderstand ... in NO WAY AM I MAKING EXCUSES FOR THESE PARENTS. Leaving their kids like that was inexcusable. But I'm just saying as a general observation that if you lock your bedroom door and something happens to you in the night, this could happen to you.

Perhaps my CO example was a stretch but if it's a room heater and the door makes a tight seal and the rest of the house vented, it could happen in your home.

Sorry .. I didn’t mean that personally.

I was just commenting on the story.

Here’s classic liberal thinking in the comment section beneath the article:

“Truly sad. It’s a good thing there aren’t any guns in our household. Who knows if I might be capable of something like this in a moment of despair, anger, and frustration?”

people who want to commit murder/suicide should start with the suicide and go on from there.

Mohammed Atta agrees with you. After all, he was sitting up front.

The cases I’ve seen of men killing their girlfriends’ children by other men are usually just the kids, not the man killing himself too.

You may very well be right.

Murder suicide is probably more likely to involve the man’s own children than another man’s children.

I think that the mental disturbance is deeper and involves depression more than in the case of murder of children of a previous spouse where in the murder of the previous spouse’s children it is likely to be purely a rage type of murder.

Purely on my experience in reading of this kind of murder suicide where in the children are murdered it usually follows the loss of the man’s job and he is despairing over not being able to support his family or the wife is divorcing him and he can not accept the loss of his children.

Any further news of this case appears I would appreciate a ping to the thread.

The man was only 21, which makes it unlikely that he's the father of any of the children besides the baby.

Unlikely but not impossible.

I knew of a young woman who fell in love with a 14 year old after high school.

He fathered a child with her.

I lost touch with her but they could easily have had two more children by the time he reached 21.

I hope that they did not stay together though. He was an arrogant little twerp and she was a nice attractive young woman.

No, not impossible. However, with the oldest child’s being 8, that would make the late 21-year-old *twelve* at the time of conception, and most 12-year-old boys are pre-pubescent.

That is also my observation. The cases of a man killing his girlfriend's other children seem to be situations where just finds the child/ren a nuisance, especially when the idiot mothers decide the new sex partner should be a free babysitter.
