Do you like gladiator movies?
I’m serious! That’s what Joel’s songs really are despite all his posing as a Rocker.

Slim Whitman - I remember you
They heard the hum of the motors,
They counted the rotors,
And waited for us to arrive ...

RESISTOR
Swear allegiance to the flag, whatever flag they offer;
Never hint at what you really feel.
Teach the children quietly for, someday, sons and daughters
Will rise up and fight while we stood still.

Great pic, he is one of the (very) few performers that I completely ignore his politics and just enjoy the music. I was extremely disappointed when I heard that he and Elton were in Fargo and I missed it.
He keeps his politics off the stage. He says it insults your audience is bad for bussiness.
Joel has a lot more talent than Weird Al and will be remembered a lot longer.
Billy Joel the worst? What about Robert Goulet, Anthony Newley, and the overall winner, drum solo please, John Davidson?!
Hey he probably is and it is really cool he is into vintage bikes and all but in the great scheme of things whether him or Al is remembered longer want make that much difference besides the impact on the personal lives around them. He made music that some people enjoyed for the time and end the end that all that counts.
I remember the Rolling Stone review of ‘52nd Street’ in 1978 where the critic talked about one song where Joel seemed to be imitating Anthony Newley. :-)
It isn’t rock though. It’s closer to a broadway showtune version of Rock.
He apparently goes over well with our soldiers in Kabul...
