The Dean of Admissions at Muhlenberg in Allentown didn’t appreciate me referencing the song at our interview in 1986. How am I gonna make a living without a Muhlenberg education?
Now, if anyone can find the original Nylon Curtain back sleeve of the album cover showing Billy smoking a cigarette, I’ll believe he is not part of the liberal conspiracy.
The Ministry of Truth on google has deleted it from history.
Two things:
1. In the “Allentown” video, Billy Joel is playing a guitar.
2. The picure of Joel on the back of “The Nylon Curtain”-he is holding a coffee cup with the handle toward the camera.
Joel has had a huge fan base cutting across all political lines for decades because he has never used the stage as a bully pulpit.
