Now I know why the Seagate 1.5 Terabyte drive is going for $129 at Newegg and Fry's.

The 1TB WD Caviar Green model I have has been pretty stable but it does get hot. I’ll wait until they get under $100 like when I bought mine. Probably in the summer.

That can hold a lot of... music.

Those hard drives keep getting bigger and I keep filling them up... LOL...

Ooh ahhhh. Now if only DVR manufacturers would actually put these big drives on them instead of, IMO, their pathetic current offerings. I would actually bother to purchase one.

It’s a dead end. Who would want really big hard drives like this? Google says the PC is dead and everyone will be keeping their data at Google.

2 Tera-byte drive doesn't impress me. The drive is 7500 rpm which is old technology. I would be impressed with a 12,000 rpm drive sold under $100.

4 or 5 of these and you could backup the whole internet to your computer.

There is no reason that, in this time of financial stress, a private citizen should horde this much storage. From this day forward, this administration will place a 50% storage tax on this sort of excessive digital storage capacity. In order to reduce the carbon footprint of these 2TB drives, 1TB will be dedicated to storing copies of "Earth in the Balance" and "The Day After Tomorrow" to be shared via The People's Net. A People's Net sharing tax will be instituted next week.

In related news, Microsoft has announced that the new version of Windows will take 1t of disk space.

Sheesh. I just took stock of the various machines my family has attached to the home network. I came up with 2.4 TB of total storage. However, my primary backup is a 500 GB NAS that currently has about 65 GB of assorted music, family photos, homework, etc. on it. (which is backed up to a separate 250 GB drive in another machine) Going to be a while before I can justify one of those 2 TB beasts... Yet the geek in me wants one...sigh But I want a new 9mm more...
