Watchmen is NOT a kids movie. It wasn’t even a kids graphic novel (comic book). Anyone that thinks it was either doesn’t know The Watchmen.

Yeah. The Watchmen wasn’t even marketed to kids as a comic book, and I don’t see any indication that it will be as a movie.

That’s the way the graphic novel wanted it.
Dr. Manhattan is not human, and becomes less empathetic to humans as time passes on.
As such, he sees no need for clothes as he progresses towards a god-like status.

Thats why reviews like this are good. I had no idea what this movie was about until now. I thought it was going to be like X-men or Spiderman.

As a mystery, it’s a very intriguing tale, but ultimately rather nihilistic. It’ll make Dark Knight look like a Will Ferrell comedy.

Well... Yeah. This needed to be stated? Out loud? By someone with a working forebrain?<p.
It’s Rated R for fricks sake...

. . .kind of annoying now.

Now? Schussel has always been annoying. Even the 55% to 65% of the time when I agree with her basic point, her over-the-top way of expressing it grates on me. She's a female analog of Michael Savage--right a majority of the time, but annoying to the point of uselessness all the time.

actually it is an alternative history view of the world.

If anything it is even more fitting in the totalitarian media control of the obama administration.

www.themoviespoiler.com should have a synopisis but other than the gian squid, it is true to the old commic book.

Who is watching Obama? certainly not the main stream media.

I mean...drawing the line at THE WATCHMEN? Really? Have you turned on MTV? Network television?

Uhh, it's “Watchmen”, anyone with even passing familiarity with the source material will know it's not (and not meant to be, and shouldn't be) kiddie fare.

Uh, I know very little about the story, other than it was always written as a comic book for adults. It’s not for kids... that’s why it is rated “R”.

Also, Debbie Schlussel is h-o-t.

I am so sick of morons (like Ms Schussel, AND her fans commenting on her site ) who jump to the conclusion that every single comic is for kids, and so are all “superhero” movies. Moore’s Watchmen graphic novel is a great read-and it has ALWAYS been understood by all halfway reasonable people (leaving out poor overwrought Debby) that it’s for the 18 and over crowd. Ditto this film, which I will certainly see ASAP.

Sounds like it puts the “graphic” into graphic novel.

Good point. I haven’t paid attention to how it has been marketed at all. The graphic novel is still on my bookshelf (with very few select others), where all my other comics have gone the way of eBay.

I was actually afraid the movie company would go the other way and clean it up, campify it, to be more kid friendly like “Batman Forever” and “Batman & Robin”. So glad that the franchise got yanked from Schumacher.

Anyways yes Watchmen is dirty, gritty, violent, ugly, and whatever else you want to throw at it. I don’t recommend it for just casual viewing at all (without even seeing it yet only the trailers). I just know that from the graphic novel.
