Think about it.

I have thought about it. You can tell me that the Courts have said that the Bill of Rights doesn't apply within 100 miles of the border. Maybe you are right, which would mean I am subject to whatever searches and seizures some bureaucrat wants to subject me to as it's only about 25 miles from me to the coast here. The courts have said lots of things. The government can compel the sale of property for the benefit of private businesses. It can restrict what sort of arms you can bear, and maybe whether you can bear them at all. It can subject you to multiple trials for the same supposed offense. It can prohibit your financial support of political candidates. I could go on.

And these inland checkpoints are absurd. The illegals obviously know where they are; and the government is obviously aware they do because they have posted "Wetbacks Crossing" signs at least north and south of the one I've driven through north of San Diego. If the border patrol really wants to deport illegals, have them send me some FReepMail and I'll get them to a place where more than 50% of the people are here illegally, and maybe they can stop harassing honest citizens at a place where they have less than a tenth of a percent chance of encountering someone here illegally. These checkpoints are just as stupid as subjecting my mother to a search when she gets on an airplane; and just as un-American.

You think about it.

Please do not put words in my mouth, my FRiend. I said no such thing. I said, quote, "The courts have stated NUMEROUS times that simple proximity to the border grants border officials (such as Customs & Border Protection Officers and Border Patrol Agents) probable cause to search."

I never stated that the Bill of Rights doesn't apply within 100 miles of the border. If we can't represent each other's positions honestly, there is no possibility of rational discussion.
