Freeper help: I'm in love with a liberal (vanity)

Posted on 05/27/2009 2:23:38 PM PDT by Karma Police

Sorry for the vanity, but I'm in serious need of some freeper advice here. I think I'm falling in love with a liberal. She's beautiful and has a big heart, but we have conflicting political ideologies. Does anyone have any tips for being in a relationship like that? Thanks FRiends...

Maybe she’s just ignorant and you can educate her.

Call her stupid and see how she reacts.

Show her this thread.

Seriously that’s rough dude. I couldn’t deal with that unless maybe it she was a quiet Edith Bunker type and didn’t mind hearing every day how her favored party are a bunch of communists and also didn’t mind me taking her absentee ballot and filling it out for her.

You have to decide if you can handle sleeping with the enemy or not and how much you love her.

My uncles are conservative, at least one of my aunts is a dumb lib who voted for Gore/Kerry/Obama, but a nice lady. But my uncle doesn’t like being the only Republican in the house.

I believe that there are liberal/leftists and then not-so-smart people who simply don't understand that liberal/leftists aren't really there to help them, and will in fact hurt them if given the chance. But afterwards, they'll fluff it up to make it look good and declare what they've done a "success". I think that IF we could simply reveal the vileness of liberalism to men like the one you dated, that they would turn and change...possibly. I shouldn't have made it so black/white. Nothing is ever as simple as I try to make it.

Given what you've just told me, I have a story that you will probably relate to.

I was with a good friend of mine several months ago and me and my two sons and him were all cutting firewood on another man's farm. The farmer drove up and we stopped work to talk for just a bit. We were talking about current events and the economy in particular. He told us that he had a cow that was wild as a march hare, and jokingly, my friend (who was standing next to my wife's truck) reached through the open window and brought out an M-4 clone (AR-15) and pointed it in the direction of the cow and asked him which one it was and that he would take care of that problem! The farmer looked at him and said slightly confused... "What is that? A paintball gun?" My buddy replied, "Nope! It's a "PAINBALL" gun!" ..and we all laughed. But the farmer didn't. Then he said, "What in the world do you need a gun like that for?!" When he said that, everybody got quiet and exchanged nervous glances. We didn't know we were in the midst of a possible liberal. Within a few minutes of the conversation about the financial problems of this nation, this same farmer declared that none of this should be a problem because we had all that gold down at Ft. Knox to back up the money! Once again, we exchanged nervous glances. My friend explained to him that this wasn't the way it worked anymore and that the gold standard had not been in effect for quite some time. The look on the farmer's face was difficult to interpret. It was one of confusion and disbelief. I'm not entirely certain if he believed us.

Anyway...this farmer hunts, shoots, has a fish pond, and raises cattle. But he was about as different from us as anybody could be. However, I wouldn't say he was a through and through liberal, because he was simply ignorant of certain facts and not trying to aggressively and righteously push his brand of politics down our throats and declaring us evil because we had an EBR with us.

I think the guy you dated, as well as this farmer are best described as "unaware". The trick is to get them to BE aware! ...and if I get that one figured out, I'll let you know first! :-)

You want to go Jeeping in the mountains. She wants to close all roads to off highway vehicles.

I have liberal relations in my family. The only difference between them and me are their politics. A lot of libs are sports fans like me. Heck, I'm a die hard White Sox fan and the team-owner had a big party for Obama when he won, while I joined the NRA for the first time. It isn't so simple.

Granted, it makes a lot of things better if a couple agree on their polictics. Like I said though, the heart rarely listens to reason. Love is blind, and all that...

Eventually, the poor sap will be at a party with a bunch of his wife’s wing-nut liberal buddies and the poor sap will shoot his mouth off and the next thing he knows, he’ll be on the couch with the chocolate lab.

Maybe, but the "make-up" sex will be worth it. :)

If you can’t break away from her, try asking her to explain her beliefs when they come up.

The first thing to ask: Is the chick loaded?

A woman can be fat as can be, kisses sweet as honey But that don't mean a thing to me If she ain't got no money If the purse is fat....that's where it's at.

Agree to disagree and enjoy the vast majority of life that doesn't involve politics.

I wouldn't cut off a relationship simply because of partisan differences.

Be in love. Have fun.

Liberal chicks are 100% better in bed than conservative chicks.

I 100% disagree.

A very wise old-timer once confided, “son, if you marry for money, you’ll earn every penny”.
Think John Kerry.

Paul’s letter to the Romans, chapter 1, verses 18 through 24:

18 But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19 They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. 20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
21 Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. 22 Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. 23 And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies.

My advice: Stay FAR away. I grew up in urban Minnesota so you pretty much know that liberal women were a rule, not the exception in my area.

The liberal women I’ve dated were shallow, into themselves and really had no independent skills to speak of. They thought they could get a man or their mommy or daddy to help them with independent skills. They were also very dependent. None of those are signs of somebody that would make for a good girlfriend or wife. I blame this on the third wave of feminism.

The 3rd wave feminization of women have turned many western women into beasts that aren’t marriageable. If she’s a liberal, most likely, she’s a third wave feminist or holds some third wave feminist beliefs. A third wave feminist (Think that Garafalo skank) sucks as a girlfriend. Nothing that third wave feminism teaches would make a woman into a good girlfriend or wife. Why do you think Garafalo type skanks always have horrible relationships?

So if you’re prepared to do the following:

Make her feel like a princess.
Put up with her whininess.
Codependence.
A person who tries to crowd out your personality instead of adding to your own personality.
General naivety.
Dishonesty.
A person that really has NO concept of economics (This will show up when you pay for your dates) then go ahead, date a liberal.

The current girl I’m dating right now can be considered somebody who’d fit the mold of first wave feminism

As for any young man that’s dating today, they should read this essay first before they even CONSIDER dating again.

You left out the most important part - whether she’s the bra-burning, PETA-supporting, abortion-rights-protester kind of liberal girl, or a Democrat or even moderate who just thinks liberal is the new black? If it’s the former there’s not a lot of hope, but if it’s the latter, there’s a chance.

Also, look at what all these Freepers who’ve said they’ve been happily married to a ‘liberal’ say compared to the warnings of those who say it would be a nightmare - I don’t think any of the ones who’ve had a successful marriage to a ‘liberal’ were marrying the kind of women that the people who tell you to run away think that you’re going to end up marrying. Obviously, this ‘love’ is going to cloud your judgement a bit, but as long as you don’t rush into things you should have a reasonable idea of whether or not it’ll work long before you’re actually married.

Also, if it does get serious, what are your non-negotiable issues? I can imagine abortion would be one, and gun ownership seems to be another, and there might be some deal-breakers for her. If or when the relationship gets serious, you guys obviously need to have a talk about this.

It’s not about whether or not you guys agree on everything - you’ll never find anyone who has the exact same opinions as you, so it’s all about what things matter and how much. For you two, politics might be a big issue, but I know people who’d have more of an issue with their romantic partner cheering for the Yankees over the Red Sox than they would if that partner voted exactly the opposite of them...

And, last but not least, if you guys come to a mutual understanding that it’s not going to work out, she sounds like she could still be a wonderful friend. In fact, I’m close friends with a guy, and we had such different views on life, relationships, and such that I don’t think for a second either of us were under an illusion that a romantic relationship might ever work but that hasn’t stopped us from having a wonderful friendship.

Is you be a Christian?

If so, there is some little thing about not being “unequally yoked together”.

In any case, love is easily found in conservative circles. Save yourself and your future offspring from the grief and RUN LIKE YOUR HEADS’ ON FIRE!!!

I have never heard of them described as 'hearts' before.
