RALEIGH, N.C. -- When Joseph Carnevale chopped up three stolen orange and white traffic barrels from a construction site to create a massive sculpture of a roadside monster thumbing a ride, the North Carolina college student said he saw it as a form of street art.

Police just saw vandalism.

They dismantled the 10-foot "barrel monster" and arrested Carnevale. Hundreds of online supporters want the charges dropped and the publicity has turned the history major and part-time construction worker into a local celebrity.

Even the construction company has become a fan, and wants the 21-year-old to create a replica of the figure that led to his arrest on June 10.

LOL when my brothers were in their teens they worked for my Uncles tile company. One day coming back from a job in Austin the traffic slowed enough that they were able to take cones out with the truck door. The cop that pulled them over was not to happy and told them they were lucky that traffic was so heavy or he would make them go back and stand them all upright again.

Boiling Pots, he did this without their consent and they said it was okay after the fact just because people said “Oooh...that is so clever! Your company is really cool for letting him do that...”

If people had said they were pissed because the guy had his ‘sculpture’ holding an offensive sign or whatever, it would be different.

The guy is inconsiderate, stupid and immature in my opinion. He isn’t a criminal, just a dumb ass.

He doesn’t give a rat’s ass about anything or anyone except himself, and thinks the world should be his canvas. If you aren’t one of the ‘law and order’ types, good on you. Just don’t project that on anyone else in any other circumstance.
