"The Godfather, Part II" should never have been made.

No matter that it won six Oscars, including best picture, and is widely considered the best movie sequel ever.

According to Francis Ford Coppola, who won three of those Oscars, it was a movie that should not exist

A break from politics.

I understand FFC's point, but I still think he's wrong.

I think the third one shouldn’t have been made, love part 1 and 2.

I agree with other posters here, G3 was a mistake... and his daughter in the role was a frikkin’ disaster.

Then we’d never see Sofia pout and cry. No way.

The Copp is right. One was a masterpiece and should have stood alone.

I agree that GIII is the weakest, but I also like that it provides a certain closure for Michael (Corleone).

GII was ok but GIII was terrible. Sort of like T1 was awesome, T2 was ok and T3 was terrible.

I especially like the remix called the Godfather Saga which taskes GFI and GFII and puts the scenes in chronological order, as well as splicing in additional footage.

“I agree that GIII is the weakest, but I also like that it provides a certain closure for Michael (Corleone).”

It does, but his death is identical to that of his father in the first film. That always seemed cheap to me.

I liked both the original and II extremely well.

III should never have been made.

And somewhere, somebody probably cares. One thing about Hollywood, no self-absorbed people out there.

I liked all three and for different reasons. The whole discussion is somewhat silly because you can’t unring the bell. And I’m sure Coppola gladly cashed the checks that resulted from all 3 of the movies. Having DeNiro, Pacino in a movie made by Coppola in and of itself is a blessing, even if DeNiro and Pacino don’t appear together in any scene. Also the recreation of NYC in the 20’s (was it) i.e. the set design as well as the costumes are priceless. Finally having Pacino tell John Cavale - “You’re no longer my brother”. You can’t put a price on that either.

Well his physical death is the same as his fathers. Emotionally though he died much earlier. That was really the message of the 3rd film, Michael was just too much of a cold hearted SOB and it finally caught up with him.

Really if you dump the creepy incest plot and replace Sofia with somebody that can act 3 is a pretty good film.

I think G2 is better than G1! Why isn’t anyone bringing up “Police Acadamy” 6,7 or 8?! :)

Q. The name of that film?

A. It turned out to be “The Godfather.”

Q. How did that work out for you?

Pretty funny.

Coppola hasn’t made a decent movie since Rumble Fish back in the 80’s.
