What is the downside of her publishing pictures of herself with little clothing on a social networking site. Even if it is just friends, or even friends of friends...how far could these pictures go?

What is her reason for uploading pictures of her in a bikini?

"General rule of thumb...the less you post on the net the better off you will be long-term"

That is so true. I consider being 100% net-passive every now and then. It’s really something I should do soon. I bet afterwards I will be horrified at what I've revealed. And that is just words.

There are plenty of stage moms and dads that will push their kids into modeling. What few I have dealt with have been mostly sane. I am not wild about working with teens as a rule. What little portfolio building I have done with/for teens have been casuals and headshots. For my protection, I have a camcorder going as my escort.

If she is a conservative- she will have no chance of winning the Miss USA title or an elected office...

MOM is worried about the pics...How does that make her a “disgusting pig”?

She is twenty and thinks she’s bullet-proof? I have no idea.

I had a very nice body at twenty but it was for my husband only.

You didn’t mention earlier that she was an adult. In that case it’s none of your business.

Having just been through the college admissions process, I can assure you that the college boards look for embarrassing/illegal/dumb things. Not to mention attracting the perverts.

Let her know, preferably before any drama comes up, that even though she made a mistake she’s not soiled, or ruined forever.
That way, if something does happen with the pics, she won’t feel like you’re going to say ‘I told you so!’ if she comes to you for comfort.

Some things just have to be learned the hardway. I was one of those kids, when told not to do something, was an open invitation to do it. I just hope that the pics are innocent and decent, as others have said; she could live to regret them very easily.

She wants to be told that she's pretty and sexy, even by strangers.

Does she have a dad in the house?

Precisely. You cannot access the page and neither can the web crawlers which scour (and archive) the pages.

Unless the pictures are very suggestive, IMO it is much ado about nothing.

Many of the people here operate out of fear from having heard something on Bill O’Reilly etc. There is much misinformation out there. I have pictures on the internet, videos etc. It simply takes good judgement.

A bikini is not complete nudity.

Even Miss America contestants wear bikinis in competition. Women wear bikinis at the beach and are photographed with cell phone cameras by strangers with copies being sent everywhere. Your daughter is not a porn actress just because she posted a photo of herself on the Internet in a bikini.

There is no reason to become hysterical about it.

Lots of bikinis are sold at Wal-Mart to be worn in public so I wouldn't freak out.

Unless your daughter displays a jaw-dropping body when wearing a bikini, she probably won't raise an eyebrow on the Internet. There are literally millions of girls displayed in bikinis on the Internet.

How old is she? I have 3 daughters and we have the conversations frequently.

Also anything she says on social sites will be there forever. I am completely against all the sites like facebook, etc.

The main problem is we just don’t know where our government will end up and now with the new tools that Obama, et al want to use will try to connect the dots on what people will do.

People need to stop worrying about their personal vanity and they need to focus on protecting their personal information and assets.
