BASEBALL PING LIST If you would like to be on the ping list let me know.
This will be a medium volume ping list during the baseball season and a low volume ping list when all life stops in late October.

No way. Smoltzie will be a first ballot entry. He has the stats to back it up. I just wish he would of called it quits last season when Glavine and Maddux did.

In other news the Red Sox designated John Smoltz for assignment which probably means his Hall of Fame career is over. About friggin time. Reminds me of the hell of being a Met fan with the self-serving Tom Glavine using them to get to 300 and then blowing 7 runs in 2/3 inning to lose the division on the last day.

Yep...rumor has it Smoltz will accept a position in the bullpen and retire a reliever at the end of the year. I expect Giambi to wind up with the Marlins or Pirates...he still wants to play and he was not that bad at all with the Yankees last season.

John Smoltz for assignment which probably means his Hall of Fame career is over. Nah. Somebody will pick him up. Well, assuming he still wants to pitch. And I think he does. He'll have to take a pay cut but if he wants to pitch there will be somebody out there to pick him up.
