The 2009 Atlantic tropical season is heating up with Tropical Storm Ana forming about 1000 miles east of the Leeward Islands, and Invest 90, a large Cape Verde system showing substantial promise for development. Currently, neither of the two systems pose an immediate threat to land. Long term forecasts indicate potential threat to Florida, while a third tropical wave is poised off of the So. Florida coast.

Thanks yield 2.
I have been fishing the bay since the late 50’s and actually participated in a research study(which has been since lost) at the UM Rosentiel School in the late 60’s that studied Fla. Bay and the Lower Gulf up to Shark River. Ahhh... those were the days, fast skiffs, lots of sun and a 6 pack of Mountain Dew.

But beware, they said the exact same thing about Alicia 25 years ago. Just a wave, they said, we might get a little rain they said, nothing to worry about they said!!!!!! Boy do I remember how they downplayed that little storm.

Well, I think one of my fellow 1Ls jinxed us. He said everyone would get down here for school and a hurricane would hit.

I remember flying a Norseman on naphtha. This was back in the rarly 50s. We were in a very new northern town and the only road in was basically a trail that broke up when the season changed so that no loads could be brought in until the road firmed up again.

Our supply of aviation gasoline had not made it in so the boss bought every drum of naphtha in the town. Pilots simply had to watch our cylinder head temperatures and adjust our mixture accordingly.

Good news--latest model runs have Big Bill looking a bit fishy. Report this to whitehouse.gov immediately and get on their email list. Might as well send them all your money too.

Great advice. Cash is king when times are tough, and no electricity is the worst with high heat and humidity! How are you doing these days?

I’ve got a BIL in Kissimee; he’s watching too, Bill’s got the better chance of making landfall at low Cat1 right now.

He lost a roof a while back and had more trouble with the roofers than the storm that time.

We have to remember that we are talking about the weather and it doesn’t care what we forecast; I spent a year back in 1969 studying storm tracks and calculating error factors for Dr. Robert Renard at the U.S. Navy Postgraduate School in Monterey, Ca. to share with the NMC office/lab on station.

We did it all with Marchand Calculators, card-punch machines and Fortran field sheets; our computer was a five story building with the first floor dedicated to the card-punch machines, operators and admin personnel.

I was still using tables for large square roots.

We know only a bit more now than we did then about these “suckers.”

Still, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

"wonder whatever happened to that guy?"

Check Obama's list of czars.

He has at least one convicted felon who spent time in prison from the Rodney King riots as a czar.

I am doing great. Neg scans, good markers and now in maintenance for six months. Feel good. A great blessing to me. Outlook is so so but I can live with that.
