The 2009 Atlantic tropical season is heating up with Tropical Storm Ana forming about 1000 miles east of the Leeward Islands, and Invest 90, a large Cape Verde system showing substantial promise for development. Currently, neither of the two systems pose an immediate threat to land. Long term forecasts indicate potential threat to Florida, while a third tropical wave is poised off of the So. Florida coast.

Thank you so very much.
Thanks for the ping. It’s fun living in Florida this time of year...
It sure looks like everything out there has sights on Florida.
This deserves the picture displayed here on FR from time to time, “Awwwwwww Geeeeez, not this sh!t again”.
Hello from the Florida Keys, NautiNurse, and awaaaaaay we go.
Another year in paradise, another season of watch and wait.
Our condo is just finishing putting on a new roof...whew...here we go again...lets see how Obozo handles hurricaines.
this may be the crisis he is waiting for to ram through the healthcare while no one is looking...
Thanks for the ping, yup here we go, lol, right now looks like a fla storm. Still got those cute shutters?
Here we go again! Keep me on your list, please.
WE ALL GONNA DIE!

Still have them for posterity, while window protection has been
upgraded to the kevlar hurricane screens.
I don’t want to think about Obama campaigning in a field of hurricane debris. Creepy.
Spreading the wealth naturally since 2005.
LOL! The TOTUS administration and Congress are all Looter Guys.
Ahhh ... Let the games begin
Ana (potential Cat 1-2) is just clearing the path for the soon to be named Monster Bill (potential Cat 3-5) that is following behind. Not wishcasting, but almost all forecast models called for a major hurricane event even before it left the coast of Africa.
So TD2 came back from the dead. We still have to contend with 90L as well.

Yep—Old Home Week. Seems like yesterday when last we bantered on a hurricane thread.
You aren't exaggerating either. Local Tampa weatherguy pointed out the giant Invest90 before it had completely emerged from Africa.
Bill? But we already had a disaster named Bill. I thought they retired the name...
Time to break out the 72 hour kit and update expired meds, etc.
Hope all will be safe this year.
My one pet peeve (and this is about most sites) is they only cover the Atlantic and Eastern Pacific Basins. As a Tropical Cyclone buff, I like coverage of all of the basins.
It's always good to know thet you and others are out there when 'da hurricane blow'
We've had our own storm brewing for a bit down here in the keys ... bubbas feeding at the trough:
The County school superintendent and his wife have stolen at least $500K from the school and the mentally handicapped and they are out without bail

I know what you mean. I guess the folks doing this are more interested in covering their area of the world rather than the whole earth.
Great graphic. Stolen!
You always have interesting stories coming out of The Conch Republic. The deviant duo is no exception.

Did you see the one off Baja California?
Bump for later.
Here we go..the season is upon us :)
Five years ago we still didn’t have electricity after Charley. But- off topic and because I must celebrate- 5 years ago tomorrow my son had surgery on his leg for sarcoma and was given a 20% chance to live. He has fought like hell and today- he’s reached the significant 5 years, cancer-free mark! WOOOO HOOO! WTG, God :)
The best anniversary of all! Congratulations!!!
Ahh, 2004. Charley and Frances and Ivan and Jeanne. They all pale to the anniversary you are celebrating.
~~~~~and Texas needs rain~~~~ ;]
Excellent news SE Mom, and good to see you btw!
You know this just figures. My son just bought his plane ticket to come visit next Thursday. Sheesh.
Just in time to knock Town Halls and Healthscare off the front page.
Thanks:) The joy and gratitude around here is similar to a birthday!
Meanwhile- I’m ready for whatever hurricanes come our way this year. Including plenty of chocolate ;)
Is it possible to put this on the side bar into top news or breaking for those of us in South Florida who need to keep tabs? I don’t have cable so I am limited to news breaks about this issue. Thanks in advance :)
Congrats on your son, prayer works! Give him my best!
Wow! Ty for the chocolate reminder!! LOL
Everyone who moves down island is coming from someplace, never to somwhere
Invest 90 is now TD 3 as of the 11am advisory.
Just finished a Quinnipiac telephone poll. Their questions are ridiculously loaded to the left. Even the caller came close to agreeing with me barking at some of the questions. For example, "Do you agree or disagree with the protests at some of the recent town hall meetings?" I asked if that meant do I agree or disagree with the 1st amendment. She said she didn't write the questions...
The mods are great about moving these threads to breaking news when a storm is imminently threatening the U.S. mainland coast. Otherwise, I ping the list when there are significant updates. These systems are still a long distance from any land mass.
Ok, thanks! I would appreciate if you could put me on your ping list.
Wunderground jumped the gun on that info earlier. Looks like the next thread will be a twofer. That may be tomorrow if both systems are still healthy.
Of course, that would be a super-saver non-refundable fare. ;o)
Thanks for the ping. Oh well, the lull in Hurricanes was nice while it lasted....
