WASHINGTON, DC Tom DeLay has announced he will be appearing on Dancing with the Stars.
Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay has announced he will be competing on the 9th season of the popular dancing program. Many in Washington are in no way surprised.
DeLay was House Majority Leader during George W Bushs first term. He rose to national prominence for openly redistricting election zones to favor Republicans, and his role in the Terri Schiavo case. Lesser known is that during during his entire Washington career he remained an avid member of the amateur competitive dance circuit. While serving as party Whip for 8 years he earned 5 national trophies. In competitions he was known as the Ballroom Blitzkrieg for the way he performed Cha-Cha and Disco.
As a politician DeLay earned the nickname The Hammer for enforcing party unity and taking retribution on political opponents, often with a tack hammer. However before earning this name he was known as The Dancing-est Republican in Washington. When Newt Gingrich first offered him the position...

Oh geez.
Oh well, can`t be any stiffer than Wozniak was.
Actors are politicians and politicians are actors.
He’ll be the first one voted off so the pain won’t last long.
Nooooo....they will keep him around to HUMILIATE him.
OMG, I thought this was satire but did a search and it’s true!
“Hell be the first one voted off so the pain wont last long.”
What if he is really good? Will they vote him off anyway? Never watched the show and never intend to.
another ham-handed attempt to co-opt a Conservative with Hollywood glitter (like the time they gave Rush that bit part in a CBS sitcom opposite Markie Post)
Probably the first thing ever in the Weekly World News with a kernel of truth. Still enough Barbra Streisand in it.
Politicians know how to dance around every question, so he should do pretty well, LOL
I think he's in to win...said he's danced all his life.
This should be fun. Tom has set up a website called “Dancing with DeLay” and he’s blogging on Facebook about it.
I actually think it would be nice if he didn’t get knocked off on week one (not that I ever watch the show...:)
I’ve been reading some of the blogs, and they all say he will be out faster than a NY minute.....all libs I’m sure.
I’ll be watching, and voting for him. It would be nice, despite his past, to see a Conservative vote make a difference for a change...even on a silly dance show.
What’s his Facebook name?
Tom DeLay
:-)
I think it’s the first time they’ve had a politician on the show. I could be wrong. He said he’s looking forward to it, training, etc., but not sure about the sequins. LOL!!
