S/L has been doing some “hallway walking” to keep her spirits up and address some of her numbness. Seems like the nurses are ready to sign her up. S/L has been quite impressed with the care and professionalism of her medical care team.
Because of some residual numbness in her arm and hand, saveliberty may not be able to post here when she arrives home as much as we have hoped, but she will be able to read all of your good thoughts and wishes.
Thank you, everyone! Thank you so much for the prayers, messages and calls. I am overwhelmed.
Leaving the hospital went a little more slowly than we thought. It was scheduled for 1:30 but we didn’t get out of there until after 3, and then it was a long ride home. We probably would have left later, but my friend pried me out with a crowbar. LOL
I am doing better, but I can’t do much in the way of posting as I am still dealing with numbness on my right side.
The story is that the swelling from the hemorrhage needs to subside before the doctors can do anything about the tumor, so it will be a few weeks before I go to see the surgeon in charge of the bleeding. If he gives me the green light, he will coordinate with the surgeon in charge of the tumor.
My goal is to be careful and pursue some of the physical and occupational therapy that might help me before the surgery.
The tumor is an acoustic neuroma and the one surgeon has performed thousands of them. They can test nerve by nerve to limit risks to nerves, but I will need to become accustomed to having only one working ear, which is not such a bad outcome in the scheme of things.
Meanwhile, I will be doing my version of “taking it easy” while obeying doctor’s orders. I am now officially permitted to drink all the coffee that I want. But it had nothing to do with my daily pleading for caffeine buds steeped in hot water. LOL
Thank you everyone. I hope that I will be able to post more soon.
((((Hugs to all of you!))))
